This team stinks

The pitching and offense are suddenly both sucking equally

Tough to be optimistic after this recent stretch.

The Jays are sitting at 42-49 and 3.5 games back of the Texas Rangers for WC3. Considering how ugly this season has been, it could be worse, but that’s not exactly saying much.

They’re running out of time. Their past 10-game homestand against the Astros, Rangers, and Mets was a chance to make up ground, or at the very least keep themselves afloat. Instead, they went 3-7, which is simply unacceptable for a team supposedly trying to claw its way back into the playoff race.

The goal should have been to get to the All-Star Break somewhere around .500. At this point, that looks unlikely. The “it’s still early” excuse is gone, and the injury excuse only goes so far. Every team deals with injuries. Eventually, you need results.

If this team is going to have any realistic shot, they need to go on a legitimate run soon - whether that starts before the break or immediately after. They need something like 6 or 7 wins in a row, or an 8-2 stretch over 10 games, just to force their way back into the mix.

Offensively, Vladdy needs to wake up, and they need Kirk to start hitting. I’m not expecting much from Springer at this point, but they can’t keep getting so little from key bats.

Pitching-wise, Gausman and Bieber both need to be much better. If those two don’t stabilize things, it’s hard to see this team making any serious push.

The season isn’t completely over, but they’re getting dangerously close to the point where moral victories and excuses don’t matter anymore. They need wins.

I don't like saying it but I kinda hate this team. It's not fun at all to watch. Most of our wins this year we just squeaked by. Really sucks man. Only like 3 position players, 2 starters and a handful of bullpen guys showed up this year and the rest are dogshit.

Its like the 2023 team, great team but terrible to watch.

2021-2022 was peak vibes IMO

I see parallels to both 2023 and 2024 but with the added bonus of a crapload of injuries. I think the 2023 should have been a lot better than it was but that team had trouble scoring at home primarily due to all of Vlad, Kirk and Springer having down seasons at the plate. I though the 2024 team had a shot to at least compete for a wildcard spot but it ended up being short on overall talent. This year's club is weird in that it doesn't have that much less talent than the 2025 squad but the execution is awful in all phases of the game. Just like 2023 all of Springer, Vlad and Kirk are having disappointing seasons with the bat and this is holding the offense back. The rotation has been in tatters for most of the season due to injury and this has had a knockoff effect on the pen pitching far too many innings to be sustainable. Who knows what to expect in future seasons given the worst to first to potentially worst trajectory the team is on at the moment.
