It's worth noting that Kwan's defense has slipped significantly in every season, to the point where he's at 0 OAA in 2025 (it was -1 the other day). He's no longer an elite or even above average defender.

See Barger AAA last season, then he made some changes this season in his stance and he broke out big time.  It's so difficult to project though

As much as it's fueled by BABIP, we do have to consider Loperfido's major league performance to some extent. You don't just luck your way to a 186 wRC+.

He's working pitchers, not striking out, and hitting the ball hard. Just from watching him, he certainly looks the part of an above average major league hitter.

Barger has big exit velos and could really stick at third base. Loperfido does have over a 111mph exit velo which is a bit of a magic number but just corner outfield, barger has like 116/117 i think.

17th in FRV, he's well above average.

Joey Loperfido, Orelvis Martinez, and Khal Stephen for those two. Who says no?

I wouldn't say no to that if reports on Bieber are positive (which I believe they have been).

My understanding is that OAA would be a better metric for this, especially for outfielders, because it's less situational. Could be wrong, but I do know that FRV is more subject to fluctuations.

Mariners #9 prospect Tyler Locklear is the main piece going for Suarez.

We've seen some fringe top 100 guys (on some lists, not others) get dealt, but I wonder if we'll see a real consensus high end prospect get traded at this deadline. Nobody as good as Nimmala or Yesavage has been dealt yet and the top reliever and position player are already gone.

3 way trades are rare, neat.

The Rortvedt add is a little interesting with Rushing being mentioned in trade rumours.

I fully expected Rushing to be dealt - they have no room for him, so yea could be insurance for that

Cubs Acquire Andrew Kittredge

July 30th, 2025 at 11:24pm CST • By Mark Polishuk

The Cubs have addressed a need in their bullpen by acquiring Andrew Kittredge from the Orioles, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

More to come…

Dammit

There are a lot of guys like Kittredge available if we want a guy like that.

He hasn't pitched since Saturday, so it's not just a rest. Interesting.

Jon Heyman (take it with a grain of salt) thinks that the Padres may have a trade for Mason Miller.

Mark Kotsay could not say why Miller was not available in his postgame interview.

Locklear is a bit interesting. He's always hit pretty well and is apparently a very good defensive 1B. ARZ must think he has a chance to play everyday.

DiPoto runs the Mariners like a s***** fantasy baseball owner. They traded Suarez before the 2024 season for no real reason, then spent two years running s*** out there at 3B, then had to reacquire him.
