Maybe they can compromise on the 5th year being an option year based on performance in the 4th year, or as someone mentioned a reduced salary, so 5 years at $90 million. 

If he sign here, I think he will be the DH, and he will probably have similar impact in the lineup, that Edwin Encarnacion had. The same if we sign Pete Alonso. But the OF Atkins should try to get, is Robert jr.. Bregman I don't think will be a good long term move, will be more like when AA traded for Tulowitski or when Atkins signed Springer, than when we get players like Donaldson, Bautista or Encarnacion. The problem,  we don't have many good options at 3B. Bregman or Arenado seem to be the more obvious. Vlad at 3B, I am no confident he can be good defensively.

I like this idea + Moncada at 3rd, if they have the money to do this + a couple BP arms and a depth starter like Lance Lynn.

That seems like a ton of moves that need to fall into place.  Ugggh

At the beginning of the offseason, I didn't really want Santander because for years and dollars I thought there was better value elsewhere.  That elsewhere has already signed, so just sign him.  Give him the extra year.  Our offense is putrid.  We need him.

So maybe the Spanish reports were true that we've given him a formal offer that hes close to accepting.  Hopefully it's at the 4/82 mark but feel like the Jays are gonna have to give the extra year to get anyone to sign here this offseason.  Let's see.

Ya I wanted Teo all along but we desperately need to improve our offense from the corner OF spot and he's the best player out there for that.  We still need 1 more power bat in the top 4 of the lineup but I doubt this team will be able to add it.
