bigshot84 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 he is less than average short stop he is not hitting at all this year i think short stop is too heavy for him it would be better if he move to 3 rd base or left field what do you think
philly30 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 He is not the problem with this team
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 I selected an arbitrary timeframe 2020 to 2024
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Well he is not THE problem. His 25th percentile range, 75 wRC+ and 0.2 WAR in 47 games is A problem.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 not big enough problem to deserve his own thread
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Bo's play this season has possibly been the team's biggest problem this season. He's been horrific. Late May and he's been replacement level: bad offensively, bad defensively, bad on the bases. No real interest in having him on a long-term contract, and he seems like the kind of guy who will sulk if moved to 2B where he belongs.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 I think Bo will turn it around offensively. He'll hit .290-.300 with 20 HR's, 80 RBI and a low .800 POS when all is said and done. Maybe that's too optimistic, but that's where he has been around for his career. Never was a huge fan of his offensive skills, since he has low BB rates. Plus his defensive abilities are awful at shortstop and likely needs to be moved off from short in the near future. Wouldn't want the Jays to sign him to a long term extension anyways, though hopefully they could trade him this season or in the offseason for some assets.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 I still have hope that Bo Bichette as shortstop

I'm fine with Bo's short stop defense when he's hitting up to expectations. He's improved in recent seasons to the point where he's a touch below average at short which is not a huge deal when he's producing at the plate. This allows the team to run someone like Davis Schneider at second base, but when Bo is below average at the plate it kind of magnifies the deficiencies.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Hopefully that dilemma will be another teams problem soon enough.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
