dippitybop Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 No one should be surprised. We struggled to win the series against bottom feeding teams last 3 series. Why would we think playing a playoff contending team result in better results lol
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Nice to see the crowd booing at Vlad. Enough sugar coating this team and this season! Time to start winning baseball games! He is lucky this is Toronto and not New York or Philadelphia. He would be getting shredded on the daily in those markets.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 It's crazy. This team needs a culture shift. Never should have fired just Montoyo...needed to get rid of all of the coaches and started with just Schneider this year If they keep getting boo'd i think they finally make that shift. They have to Everyone is trending down offensively and triple at home...so what gives. Fire the s*** f***ing hitting coach at a minimum
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 He is lucky this is Toronto and not New York or Philadelphia. He would be getting shredded on the daily in those markets. It's not only him... pretty much everyone outside of Bo/KK would be getting lit up for their pathetic offensive display.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Looks like Kirk hit the tequila early tonight.
deanmike Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I think the crowd should focus their hatred specifically on Vlad. Start some kind of chant like "Vlad you suck!" The booing is too general of an expression of displeasure.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 It's not only him... pretty much everyone outside of Bo/KK would be getting lit up for their pathetic offensive display. Bo has been awful lmao
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 He is lucky this is Toronto and not New York or Philadelphia. He would be getting shredded on the daily in those markets. Imagine the newspaper ads in New York about Vladdy, Kirk, Varsho, and Manoah. They wouldn't survive. They're so lucky the Toronto sports media like Sportsnet were sugar coating this team all season. It's shocking to see the narrative change all of a sudden just over the last week or so. Even Buck Martinez saying the way the Blue Jays have played, they aren't a Playoff team.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I think the crowd should focus their hatred specifically on Vlad. Start some kind of chant like "Vlad you suck!" But that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the offensive scrubs that deserve boos too. Vlad in a pathetic season is doing better than almost everyone but Bo lol

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Geez Kirk has looked awful catching Hicks. He looks like he's checked out!
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Geez Kirk has looked awful catching Hicks. He looks like he's checked out! and not the first time
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 As bad as this series has gone, the Jays are still 0.5 games back of a WC spot. It's not like they're 3-4 GBs. But yeah these losses against the Rangers have really hurt. Jays could have put themselves in a better position if they won 2 or 3 of these games.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Man, team looked good without Bo, then Bo came back. Bo is definitely at the root cause of the team issues....

Vlad in a pathetic season is doing better than almost everyone but Bo lol Stop gulping the f***ing pro-Vlad kool aid. Since returning from his wrist issue on May 9th, in 385 PA against RHP he has only a 101 wRC+. Absolutely f***ing unacceptable for a 1B (he should really be a DH now but that's a whole other discussion), I'm done with his negative fWAR fatass.

Steeljays Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 LOL Montgomery in the 7th with only 80 pitches

I'm not excusing him... just saying his putrid offensive numbers are part of the problem, not the entire problem.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 He was hitting when he came back then went into the dumper He only has hits in the first game he was back. 0 for since Obviously I'm trolling but wow. The team just shits the bed at home left and right
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Actually Vlad jr.s number are about average for an MLB player. Problem is he's expected to do much more because of a famous father
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Someone people tell me how it's possible for there to be 14 worse offensive teams than us loll
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 The team really seems to wilt under the pressure in every single meaningful game or series this year. It can't be coincidence at this point. Incredibly frustrating.
deanmike Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Actually Vlad jr.s number are about average for an MLB player. Problem is he's expected to do much more because of a famous father You think -0.5 fWAR in 469 PA post-busted wrist is "about average"? That is clearly f***ing below average and unplayable garbage.

Without last September and April, Bo has hit like 88 wRC+ in the last 2 seasons...
travisinfla Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Slowly worse since 2021, if using W-L vs .500 or better teams 2021: 48-44 2022: 45-49 2023: 41-48
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 It’s not over. But why does it feel like it is?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Actually Vlad jr.s number are about average for an MLB player. Problem is he's expected to do much more because of a famous father Harper had a 115 wRC+ and 111 wRC+ in 2 of his first 5 seasons. I'm sure he was written off for dead both years lmao
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Slowly worse since 2021, if using W-L vs .500 or better teams 2021: 48-44 2022: 45-49 2023: 41-48 ALE record makes that difference id guess
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 It’s not over. But why does it feel like it is? Everyone knows what this team is made of. They've shown us all year that they're incapable of coming back when down a couple of runs.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
