jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Babe has been amazing! I swear he better be in the starting lineup everyday for the rest of the year, hitting 3rd, 4th or 5th!
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I would not lock him up for the kind of money he'll want. Especially since we need to think about our next window. I would. You don't want to be the only team that doesn't invest in home grown talent. No one will want to come here.

Nobody cares about that type of stuff. Generally players go to the highest bidder anyway and teams that are ready to win. Nobody's going to sit there and say well they didn't lock up Bo Bichette therefore I refuse to sign.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I've been very critical of the bullpen, it's taken Atkins years to build it to where it is now, it's good but not elite - the bats have been a HUGE disappointment though I post this as the Braves offense pick-up Iglesias after a blown save The bats HAVE to come through

It's just money and the Jays have a lot of it. Bo is 25 years old. I don't get the "don't pay him" attitude. Pay him. Get the best players you can get. If you can get a better SS than Bichette then do that. It will cost you either way.

I've been saying that all year about the pitching in general. We have one elite arm j Gausman, and then a bunch of good players but not elite. Many of our ERAs are deceptive. It is good, and it's deep in its goodness, and it's certainly not the reason we're having the problems we're having, but people think it's better than it is. The offense? Watching the game today I got excited for the innings that included the middle part of our lineup and had no hope for anybody else, and it's basically the middle of the lineup that ended up coming through. There's no real excitement when the top of our order comes up because we know how disappointing they are.
