JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 they are going to make this another butt clinching game
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 They were winning 8-2.. what's wrong with giving the bullpen some low pressure work with all the off days coming up? What’s wrong with giving your Starter a chance to complete his outing and put up a quality start.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Whit, so damn consistent he's such a pro
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 What’s wrong with giving your Starter a chance to complete his outing and put up a quality start. And if he got hit around in the 6th, you would be bitching about the decision not to pull him
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Well for one no one cares about "quality starts" that's an arbitrary personal stat. He hasn't even thrown 100+ pitches since the surgery. I'm sure they're easing him into it. They said he didn’t have any restrictions. He doesn’t need to be eased on. Would be a good time to throw 100 pitches today. And QS are not an arbitrary start. 6 innings of 3 runs or less is a very good goal each start. What a stupid take.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 And if he got hit around in the 6th, you would be bitching about the decision not to pull him The way he was throwing I felt very good about him completing 6. If he needed some help he needed some help.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 To leave a pitcher in the game for the sake of letting him get a quality start is the stupid take. That wasn’t the reason to keep him in the game. That would just be a benefit of staying in the game. He should have stayed in the game because of his low pitch count, his performance on the mound, and the scoreboard. Period.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 And look we ended up using Swanson anyway lmao.

Yeah Ryu was cruising along, had a good pitch count and given the 8-2 lead, didn't hurt having him try for 6 innings.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 And look we ended up using Swanson anyway lmao. It's okay, the Jays have an off-day tomorrow and Thursday haha.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 You call that a low pitch count? I wasn't paying that close attention but he was like 90 pitches after 5 innings. lol 86 pitches is low pitch count to be pulled from a game yes.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP* LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP* LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP*
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 It's okay, the Jays have an off-day tomorrow and Thursday haha. I’m honestly over it lol. But it’s the principle that people are defending the decision to yank starters early. Yes the off-days are coming up but people wonder why we have relievers throwing 3 out of 4 days and are unavailable on nights we need them on a semi regular basis. Most of the time it’s a direct result of pulling Starters early and using back end relievers in meaningless games that all adds up.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Can we please use Davis Schneider instead of #5 here.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Can we please use Davis Schneider instead of #5 here. Show some respect!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 11-4 so maybe John won't use Hicks. He was going to use him at 8-4 for sure.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I think Whit has Jerry McGuire on loop-in the background when he goes to bed every night. Show me the money!!!

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Nice to have a chill game for once. Needed a win here today to continue to hold off the Mariners.
