max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 This dude… Gruber is just as bad with his inane rantings about how Varsho is only hitting up in the lineup to appease Atkins. I'm sure Ross Atkins has bigger things to worry about then where Varsho is positioned in the lineup.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 That was a really enjoyable game to watch. It's certainly nice when the team hits some home runs so they aren't so reliant on hitting with runners in scoring position. Huge props to Bassitt pitching an absolute gem with his wife in labour.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Bassitt in BEAST mode tonight. What a game from him. Nice wave to the Mets fans on his way off the mound as well. What a professional outing from him. Great D from Springer and Chapman as well. Made huge plays that could have easily swung the game in the Mets favour. Way to go Varsho on Lou Gehrig night! Love that he came through and shut the dipshit haters on this board up.

Very similar to yesterday’s game, a dominant pitching performance with a couple homeruns for us and Romano closing it out. Hope Berrios can keep it rolling tomorrow. Would be great if he could pitch like his pre-2022 self and manage a sub 4 ERA on the year.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Jays were paying 2.10 tonight. Put $10 on them because they're never usually at those odds. Glad they won! Buy's me a free beer tomorrow yay!

He's not quite back to peak 2021 levels yet but he's not that far off.

I've been impressed with Berrios thus far. He's been very good with a 1.2 WAR. Looks like last season was just a fluke. I think he's a solid No. 2/3 guy moving forward. Nothing elite but a reliable arm that every rotation needs. My bold prediction that Berrios was going to out WAR Manoah at the beginning of the season looks correct. I wish Manoah though wasn't this bad though.

Berrios has been decent Feel more comfortable with him now for sure. This is who we traded for.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 If we started a 3 game WC series this week you go Gausman Bassitt Berrios And feel pretty decent about it In a 5 game series I'm sweating game 4 TBH.

Yeah might have to do a bullpen game for that 4th game. For a 3 game WC matchup, have to feel good about Gaus, Bassitt and Berrios RN. Jays rotation goes off the rails if they lose one of those three arms though to an injury. Would be nice if they could add another starter. Right now, I don't think you can rely on Manoah and Kikuchi starting a Postseason game.

Hopefully by September at least 2/3 of Ryu, Manoah and Kikuchi are healthy and usable. Then you have time to decide which one you roster for a WC series. I don't hate the thought of Kikuchi coming out of the pen throwing fireballs from the left side after Berrios goes twice through the order..
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
