bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 They really were in between especially with flaherty throwing a f*** ton of off speed, I want to say he recorded very little strikes with the fastball all game it probably f***ed up their game plan big time. Just a weird game, hard to draw any conclusions, but belt does look goofy at the plate right now. Regardless I think he should get a lot of rope he hasn’t played much all spring, and him panning out would be nice to have another lefty on the team. Even if he doesn’t though they can just rotate the players through the DH spot and have the Kirk + Jansen lineup once or twice a week.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Is 7 walks though 5 innings and no runs scored a record of some sort? I remember the Giants had 9 hits and 10 BB without scoring. But it was an 18 inning game. JR Richard also had a 10 BB shutout, but if I remember correctly he walked the bases loaded in the 7th and 9th (could you imagine a manager now allowing their starter to walk 6 after the 6th)

Every batter reached base, there were 5 doubles, and Ken Griffey Jr. had 3 hits.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) I’m so glad the season is back! Game 2 with our #1 SP. Looking forward to see what Gausman does this year. Anyone else think he looks a bit like Jughead from the Archie comics (dating myself)? Yes, lol. I still have several magazines in the shitter... Edited April 2, 2023 by Spanky99
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 What the f*** have they done to our lineup? Varsho, Belt, Kiermaier, utter trash. f***ing idiots took a lineup that can mash right handers and couldn't hit left-handers and make the problem even f***ing worse. Now we won't hit the right-handers as much and might even be worse against left-handers. lol... *facepalm*
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 What did I say that was inaccurate? Front office had a terrible offseason and people aren't calling them out for it. Meanwhile the majority of the board likes the off season moves. Chicken little s*** 3 innings into game 2 of the season is gauche.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Don't give me that crap, I've already stated that I don't like the off-season we had in the offseason. I'm not reacting to any one game whether it's this one or yesterday. And I still don't know what part of my assessment was wrong? Nobody wants to talk about that. Likely cause it's asinine, the Jays gave up some slugging for OBP defense and baserunning and team + fWAR, what don't you not understand? This has been the entire assessment all off season by fans, this forum and baseball pundits, get off the soapbox and get a clue, man.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 He deserved so much better. Sure did. Missed opportunities early in the game, ah well.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 I, and most here, have a different opinion. You are entitled to your opinion, but you aren't going to get much agreement unless you back it up with facts and stats. This.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Do you honestly think this is a championship caliber team? They're a projected top 5 team in the MLB, man? lol... full stop, bud.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 I love Cimber, dude makes > $3M / year and looks like he just pulled up in a beat-up 86 Trans Am and wandered onto the diamond. Haha... love it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Two worst defenders on the field cost them 4 runs WAT??? cf
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 no buts there, it's all on Biggio Both of them, Cavan did a good job knocking it down as it was scorched, he rushed the throw cause of Walker running, Vlad has to scoop that ball.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Weather forecast for today's game, 21°C and sunny. The offence goes off again, RISP won't go hitless again today folks.
