Thanks mods for trying and keeping this clean. I’ve been pretty steamed the past few days as someone who is a member of the LGBTQ community and have been too frustrated to post. I did come back today and was happy to see that generally the discussions were civil and that anything egregious was dealt with. Just wanted to say thanks.

I’d like to see the minutes of the Mod meeting to discuss this situation before action was taken

Im assuming its all temp bans?

Man... not sure how we're gonna move past the Gurriel/Moreno for Varsho trade. Varsho is basically a poor man's KK with some pop.

Having both in the lineup would fix a lot of things man... Not to mention the stud Moreno is behind the plate while we have a short fat unathletic dude there instead :(

Dude… maybe just give it the year and let’s evaluate then.

So sick of people complaining about this trade every f***ing day

Well, Kirk isn't even off to a good start this season but is still outplaying Moreno and is likely do so moving forward. It's kind of crazy but he's only a year older than Moreno. For whatever reason, people just take Kirk for granted.

Gurriel is on a heater but he's only got one year of control left. Varsho is playing like crap but is still adding value which shows you high is floor is. Moving Gurriel also freed up some money/space to sign Belt and KK, both of whom are doing well.

So we'll see how it plays out but I wouldn't be calling this a win for the D-Bags any time soon.

I don't think people really understand how different this could look in a year. Gurriel is having a nice year, but he's a 29-year league average corner OF entering free agency. You can buy one of those for like 10M on a 1-year deal if you want. The Jays just bought a better OF for 1 year 9M last offseason. The actual substance of the deal is Varsho vs. Moreno.

Along those lines, the team doesn't get any credit here for the shrewd Hernandez trade. Teo is another mediocre corner OF who isn't even playing up to his 14M salary. Swanson has been excellent, and is still under control through 2025.

I'm still heated about everyone who wanted to extent a non-elite corner OF long term last offseason.

That was such a smart trade. 4D Chess.

Well the people upset about it, like me, were upset bc we thought the lineup wasn’t as good as you kool aid sippers thinking Jansen and Biggio would be 140 wRC+ at the back end

I think the trade will look better next year once Varsho is playing CF, we have a better corner OF, and Kirk is back to his career norms.

But in the mean time, people gonna bitch and complain every time Varsho strikes out

To see the statistical line of Moreno and Gurriell this season in comparison to the very dismal performance of Varsho, it is quite difficult to wrap my brain around it.

Both of them are big factors and major reason why Arizona is leading their division and secure their position as top contenders of the National League.

People are fooling themselves that Atkins can ever push this team deep in the playoffs, more so ever contending for the title.

Funny how you can overlook Gurriel who would be like our 2nd best hitter right now. We're trying to win a World Series, especially in the pre Vlad/Bo extensions, where it should be easier to put more players around them.

Also doesn't help that our "pipeline for sustained excellence" looks like a complete joke. Our team will be vastly less talented in a few years once the Bo/Vlad extensions kick in. Guess we'll just agree to disagree here.

Sorry but I'd want this team to bring back KK on a short extension. He is the superior player to Varsho.

And you can't really talk about career norms for a guy like Kirk who has such little time in the bigs. All I see is an obese catcher whose body will only breakdown more as he gets older. Man can hit the ball no doubt but hurts you in a lot of other ways solely due to his weight/stature.

Lourdes just hit a 3 run jack... MVP!

The fact they're leading a division with the Dodgers/Padres is truly insane. Everyone had them pegged as a disaster again. Still enough baseball left for that to probably happen but still remarkable nonetheless.

I don't believe this to be true.

Gurriel isn't really an asset. Look at how Hunter Renfroe has bounced around the last 3-4 years for basically nothing in return. Or how the Jays signed Kiemaier to replace him for a reasonably cheap 1-year deal. If the team feels the need to bring in a similarly valuable corner OF, they'll have ample opportunity to do it for close to free at the deadline.

Moreno has been a worse baserunner than Kirk, and slightly better defensively and swings a pool noodle.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
