mphenhef Verified Member Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) Most valuable players this season? Manoah Most improved player? Which player moved the needle this year the most? This has got to be Stripling to me. Votes could go to Kirk too Biggest dissappoint of the season? Berrios far and away How do you rate the front office? Where does Shapiro and Atkins stand? I think Atkins should go or have a very short leash. It's not that he hasn't done a good job, but he's shown a clear inability to either identify or address some glaring roster deficiencies that have cost this team. He also stuck with Montoyo far longer than he should have. Managing to miss the playoffs with a Cy Young winner, the two best hitters in the league and a massive run differential in 2021 was inexcusable to me. How do you rate the Coaching Staff? Who should stay who should go? Do we clean house here? John Schneider........Manager Keep Pete Walker.............Pitching Coach Fire, in part due to the DUI. In part due to the disasters that were Kikuchi and Berrios Giullermo Martinez....Hitting Coach Keep, but I'd need to see he has a plan to try to fix Vlad's swing GAPS Analysis. What were we missing the most this year? impact left handed bats to give more balance to the lineup. Swing and miss in the pen a close second for me. Overall team culture. Does this team have the right mindset to win? Or does this even matter? I think they do Edited October 14, 2022 by mphenhef
mphenhef Verified Member Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Overall team culture? I understand every team has cliques. I don't like the latin guys at the end of dugout in the "barrio". Maybe I'm old school but that's not what I consider great team culture. I don't see it on opposing teams either. My gut tells me Chapman, Jano, Gausman etc. don't like it either. Chapman was welcomed into the Barrio pretty much immediately according to early season reports.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Possible the "barrio" exists mainly for language reasons. Same reason Ryu kind of was on his own. Ryu and Manoah are very tight.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Ryu and Manoah are very tight. Who cares.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Who cares. I care. Omar is making some pretty interesting claims about the team culture. It's appears those claims aren't based on facts (if mphenhef is correct). I don't understand how fans believe they have anywhere near enough information to comment on something like the team culture. Fans barely have access to the tip of the iceberg.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 It's not high school It's professional sports Team culture matters. At every level. I will concede though that there have been championship teams that didn’t get along. The Bulls teams of the 90s is one such example. But more often than not they would have one or two Alpha’s on the team who led the way. This team doesn’t appear to have that.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 It's not high school It's professional sports I don’t think we know enough about the Jays locker room to have any real opinion, but we’ve gotten a behind the curtain at times at toxic team cultures across pro sports. I mean adults can have the same thing in any workplace. It can definitely be distracting to the overall goal. It’s something. But who knows what’s going on with Jays
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 We need someone next season to go undercover and expose what the team culture is really like in that clubhouse. Send in the Hurl!
