Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 That was sad. This team looks lethargic.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Has a team ever fired their manager twice in one season?
BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The better teams have game planned vs the offense and executed that game plan so effectively. This team can either adjust on the fly or watch the season go down in flames. It's pretty simple.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Yanks have lost 11 of their last 13! That's baseball.
Ray Verified Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Team is giving me strong 2021 Padres vibes. We’re PROBABLY gonna end up finishing over .500, but definitely an inflection point in our season. The trajectory isn’t looking good.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Yanks have lost 11 of their last 13! That's baseball. Don't worry the Yanks will get it fixed when we face them lol
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Schneider just called Tapia their best contact guy. That says a lot right there.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I don’t really enjoy the team’s current roster construction so seeing them struggle isn’t bothering that much. Obviously a bit disappointing but I would like to think this season as a catalyst for change. Both the Off-season and Trade Deadline felt extremely incomplete. Perhaps its time to bring somebody in who isn’t afraid to make more aggressive decisions.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 In case you needed to cleanse your palate after that game....
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Man its unreal how clutch EE was during those two years.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 This team needs a walkout song before taking the field to hype themselves up. My recommendation, The Trooper by Iron Maiden.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Schneider just called Tapia their best contact guy. That says a lot right there. In a vacuum, he’s not totally wrong, Tapia has always been good at making contact with the baseball. It’s just not usually good contact outside of the last 2 months. Add in terrible defense and a brain the size of a peanut, and you still have a sub replacement level player getting way more PAs than he should be.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The team lacks leadership. We desperately need a Russell Martin or Josh Donaldson type of guy on this team. Someone to get the guys fired up. This team just exudes lethargy. No bark, no bite. The Jays are missing a John McDonald or Reed Johnson type player. Bring them both out of retirement.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Man, I wonder if the travel is just adding up. I don't know what it's like for MLB'ers, but getting into Canada from America has been a bloody nightmare all year long. The airports in Canada are in shambles. I'd assumed ball players wouldn't have deal with it like the plebes, but who the hell knows. The aircraft the Blue Jays fly on park at North Lounge on Derry Road. They don't go through the same nightmare regular passengers go through at Pearson. CBSA officers drive and clear them on the plane before the deboard.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Where is Brownie19? I want to hear his post-game analysis haha.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Where is Brownie19? I want to hear his post-game analysis haha. hahaha - hilarious. The team is s*** right now. Teams typically go through lots of ups and downs during the season - that's baseball. The players need to play better. Montoyo, Schneider - it never mattered who the manager and all the narrative after that move was mostly BS. I'm still relatively confident they'll make the playoffs, but I don't expect them to win more than 1 series. Still think the core and direction of the team is solid for some sustained winning. Unfortunately a lot of our prospects have been s*** this year (which I do think is a concern) and our system isn't in a position to have made significant moves at the deadline. That's life and limited our options.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 He's close. Probably 2nd or 3rd? That's generous. Kirk Pina Vlad Bo(Should be #1 but the coaching staff encourages him to be a HR mashing cleanup guy) Espy . . . . . Rocket Says a lot about the coaching staff. Or maybe they're afraid to disagree with the big brain Ross Atkins

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 He's 3rd in Contact% behind Kirk and Espinal. Facts aren't important. Tapia's Contact% has dropped from 87% to 82% this year, so it certainly appears he's sacrificing some contact to do more damage at the plate (which I believe shows up in the underlying statcast #'s)
