I think it's pitch selection that makes all the difference with him. 98 mph fastball, 81 MPh curve and change.

 

I dont get why they didnt go to the change against bethancourt after it was clear he was right on the fastball with timing. They just kept going fastball/curve. His curve realy isnt even that good, it's more of a get-me-over-curve rather than a putaway pitch.
