John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 There are many paths to a WS that don't involve a team having an "ace". Great. Feel free to search out the last 20 years and see how often the champs don't have 1. Then tell me not having one is the practical way to go. Plan to be the best, don't hope for the best.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Yeah, anyone can win if you get in. But you almost never get in with 88 wins. If youre trying to build a team to get into the playoffs, your goal isn't 88 wins. Quit pretending like the Braves have somehow stumbled on a market inefficiency of being the best of a terrible division, barely making it in, and then playing well for 3 weeks. Where am I pretending anything.

Of course it isn't 88 W's, doesn't take away from what the Braves did in a season full of crippling injuries and a great 2nd half, look at their RD, they were good, nevermind the PS. AA for PM!!!

You think ATL will not likely wreck that number by 5 wins or more? Quit pretending like the Braves have somehow stumbled on a market inefficiency of being the best of a terrible division, barely making it in, and then playing well for 3 weeks. That's taking it away from them... ^^^

That's taking it away from them... ^^^ You’re misconstruing the point. The Braves won the World Series and their division. That can’t be taken away. That doesn’t mean they had a great team blueprint that every team should be rushing to follow. Same reason nobody was rushing the follow the blueprint of the Royals when they beat the Jays to get to the World Series a few seasons ago. There’s a difference between taking away accomplishment, and realizing that it’s not a recipe for sustained success.

AA for PM!!! It’s weird reg season record is so critical in baseball apparently but not other sports…like take NFL for example. TB gets hot the second half and they’re a deserving champ. Nobody gives a s*** that GB won the most games but choked the chicken (as they usually do)
