thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Hope Springer is turning back into his big game self with the most important series of the year looming.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 s*** damn Mayza Cimber Romano Done! If our starter can get us into the 6th with the lead I feel pretty good. But once you have to use more than Richards, Cimber, Mayza, and Romano things get dicey.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 Undefeated in GDT’s this season btw. You’re welcome.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 More Manoah slider filth. That's just gross.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Undefeated in GDT’s this season btw. You’re welcome. You’re up on Tuesday. Its all you

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 .211 BA, .786 OPS, 8 HRs, 16 RBIs, 59 Ks, 108 wRC+ .300 BA, .896 OPS, 13 HRs, 22 RBIs, 31 Ks, 140 wRC+ #1 has MVP locked up though lmao Not sure what stats these are suppose to be
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Not sure what stats these are suppose to be #1 is Ohtanis August/September. #2 is Vlads
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 #1 is Ohtanis August/September. #2 is Vlads Ok why don’t you also include both players’ pitching stats too
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Ok why don’t you also include both players’ pitching stats too Sure ill include plays in the field as well. Ohtanis pitching stats don't fill in the gap between the hitters
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Sure ill include plays in the field as well. Ohtanis pitching stats don't fill in the gap between the hitters I thought the MVP was for the entire season...not just 2 months. My bad.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Sure ill include plays in the field as well. Ohtanis pitching stats don't fill in the gap between the hitters Ok show me the numbers then
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I thought the MVP was for the entire season...not just 2 months. My bad. Yeah that too. Nice way to cherry pick stats.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 Sure ill include plays in the field as well. Ohtanis pitching stats don't fill in the gap between the hitters You are high off your ass if you think Vlad is the clear front runner for MVP. I know some of the biggest Jays homers imaginable that wouldn’t take on this ridiculous arguement. An arguement that you have taken the L on several times in this thread alone. Vlad would have been in the conversation had he won the Triple Crown. Keywords in the conversation. But its possible he might not finish first in any of those categories barring a pretty big week. RBI’s is already out of reach. And for all the talk about Ohtani’s team missing the playoffs it’s far from sure thing Vlad’s will. And if they do it could be over in one game which has no barring on the regular season anyway. What Ohtani is doing is insane. Vlad although impressive his season isn’t something we haven’t seen before. And you could argue Semien has been just as valuable. Vlad might not be the MVP of his own team.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 I thought the MVP was for the entire season...not just 2 months. My bad. Thanks for agreeing with me
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 I want Vladdy to win MVP as much as anyone but Ohtani takes up ONE roster spot. It's like the Angels have an expanded roster for the whole season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Thanks for agreeing with me Fat L my dude. Ohtani is a 150wRC+ hitter AND a 3.28 ERA starter that pitched 120 innings. Vlad is a 170wRC+ hitter that plays first base every day. Vlad is the better hitter, Ohtani is the better and more valuable all around player. If Ohtani and Vlad swapped teams at the beginning of the year, the Jays are likely in a wildcard spot RIGHT NOW.

If Ohtani and Vlad swapped teams at the beginning of the year, the Jays are likely in a wildcard spot RIGHT NOW. First of all, the total WAR difference is less than 1, so that's probably not true. Second, consider that Ohtani would either have fewer at-bats or would have displaced George Springer for much of the season. Third, he would have been replacing a combination of Ross Stripling and Steven Matz in the rotation, neither of whom are replacement level. This particular team probably wins more games with Vlad in my estimation.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Thanks for agreeing with me Very few agree with you. I am also one of the ones that do not.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 I thought the MVP was for the entire season...not just 2 months. My bad. Although voters have often been overly influenced by the finish of the season. In the end they are both non factors defensively and one has a 167 wRC+ and the other has a 153 wRC+, is good on the basepaths and has pitched for 130 solid innings. If I'm voting the batting difference isn't quite enough for me. But for some reason I haven't been given voting privileges.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Undefeated in GDT’s this season btw. You’re welcome. You damn well better be starting the GDT today. Get er done!
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
