G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 So what your saying is it would of been a bomb in Yankee Stadium Possibly not...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I don't get what the big deal is. Bo smoked that, it was a moonshot so maybe looked like a playable flyball off the bat but he knew he got all of that one. Not like in Yankee Stadium where guys think they hit a pop up and slam their bat down only for it to be 3 rows deep.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Basically what I'm reading there is that Yankee Stadium is a park that heavily (overly) rewards pull hitters (and those that can really lift the ball the other way), while Dunedin rewards those that use the gaps. Considering I want the latter type of hitter 10 times out of 10 in the lineup, they can all stfu.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Who in the blue hell is Anthony Castro He's pretty damn good.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Yankees fans calling it a Mickey Mouse Ballpark. I guess they forgot they play in Yankee Stadium. They should've been able to hit 12 homers today with that logic then
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Great game today! Sucks a lot of the pen is getting injured, but I'm excited they called up Castro!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 What's the 411 on Patrick Murphy.....or Joey Murray for that matter?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 What's the 411 on Patrick Murphy.....or Joey Murray for that matter? Well Patrick Murphy was put on the 60 day IL (Shoulder AC-Joint), zero news since. We wont be seeing him or Joey Murray anytime soon, as the latest is mid-season, lol. Geez...

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Odor can't hit, can't catch. He's s***.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 That brain cramp by Palacios nearly cost us the game, felt kind of bad for Zoinks and Josh, a couple earnies that shouldn't have been. Zoinks struck the next batter out, inning over.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Great start by Zeuch today. Progressing really well. tbh I haven't had a lot of faith in him until this year. Palacios...where did he come from? In control and on point so far, damned impressive debut son! Hazel May. So happy to see her progression from inexperienced young hotty to milf. Future cougar for sure. Great progression from what is hopefully the teams future depth.

He got 3 swings and misses out of 62 pitches, gave up a ton of loud contact and had a 1:1 K/BB ratio. By most relevant stats including xERA he's been one of the worst pitchers in the league, he is dead last in WAR among starters with at least 10 innings. You should still have zero faith in him.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Red Sox have won 9 in a row??? Wtf Can't wait to play them

LOL...busted. I had the game on PVR and didn't pay attention to the details. I assume it was all part of his master plan to deceive hitters. He still may have been better than if Stripling started though!

To be fair, he could have only allowed 2 runs today if Palacios makes a catch. His last start he also had some s***** defense behind him that didn't go down as unearned runs but they definitely should have been. He has been better than the stats show imo, which is a passable fill in until we get the real starters back.

WryNGinger Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Such a weird play Has Palacios not played or got reps in Dunedin before? That was definitely an odd reaction from him on that play.

We’ve won two games against the Yankees with Zeuch starting which proves he had a positive impact in the game, it reflects in his B.E.V.R. (BBBB effectiveness value rating) and winning is what matters for a starting pitcher. The team has a 2-1 record in Zeuch starts, he’s on pace to becoming a 20 game winner which will put him in contention for Cy Young.

Sounds like Pearson is getting close. God i hope he is close
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Sounds like Pearson is getting close. God i hope he is close Sounds like the next step is ramping it back up, I figure about 6 live simulated games should do it, probably a month at my guesstimation.

The Palacios play was bad but it still doesn't excuse Zeuch from giving up another 325 foot flyball (this was the actual distance). The best way to not get burned by s***** defense is to not allow hitters to put the ball in play often, and the second best is to at least keep hitters off-balance and induce weak contact, neither of which has been an ability that Zeuch has demonstrated. His xERA after yesterday's game increased to 9.79. He's not fooling anyone.

I'm no Zeuch fan, bruh... but I'm pretty certain Zeuch struck the next batter out, had Palacios caught that, the K of Bruce ends the inning.

The ball had an EV of 98 and an xBA of .470, it's also entirely possible that this 325 flyball was a gapper or down the line and scores the run anyway, or maybe Bruce comes up and crushes one too feeling less pressure from driving in the runners in scoring position. It's not exactly like a routine pop up was dropped.

Sigh. A month is not ideal with what we're throwing out there right now. Do any of Anibal Sanchez/Rick Porcello sound like options? I'm kind of surprised Porcello hasn't gotten a shot. He was better than his numbers last year.

There were clear defensive failures that won't ever be captured in the stat book because of how the game is scored. To me, the Palacios play should have been an error and the misplays in his previous start should have been errors too. He is a fill in starter for a reason so I am happy he isnt as s***** as Roark. Those are my expectations here lol.

Based on the exit velocity and angle off the bat - the ball hit to Palacios typically isn't caught. Zeuch was lucky it was right at someone (and then unlucky Palacios butchered it). Zeuch is awful.
