I would wager a number of very good shortstops make that play, maybe even the average ones, but Bo wasn't that far off either he just messed up his footing so he got nothing under the throw. Andrelton Simmons is in a class of his own, he probably manages to plant and throw a seed there.

An average shortstop gets Pillar less than half the time on that shot. Simmons obviously more frequently. A young Tony Fernandez (before the injuries) would make that play look easy.
