Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 As much as I think it's silly, I think that if the Yanks want to implement some personal grooming requirements for their players they should be able to do so.
tbad Verified Member Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 They can do whatever they want I guess. But I would love to see a player speak up and say, 'I'm not playing there cause I like my beard." Haha... that's so dumb though
keggy Verified Member Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 Can someone that understands baseball better than me please explain how the Yankees continuosly have enough prospects to trade for the best rentals in baseball year in, year out, while still developing all-star home grown talent year after year? Seriously....we traded for RA Dickey, Tulo and David Price and it GUTTED our farm system for years to come. What gives? The lasting effects of gutting a system for a playoff run are probably overstated. Anthopoulos gutted the system multiple times and recovered within a couple of years with astute drafting and some self-control. I think what sets the Yankees apart is their willingness and ability to acquire undervalued major league talent, even when they 'should be' rebuilding. If the team performs well, they can keep the players; if they don't, they can trade up for better prospects. It requires more effort and risk than the classic tank and rebuild strategy, but they obviously make it work.
