Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I doubt that. It's pretty clear that he was very loyal to Beeston and I don't think it's far fetched to assume that his ego couldn't take the initial dressing down from Shapiro Plus Shapiro wanted to take a lot of his autonomy away.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I'm personally not seeing what all the hype is about regarding Shapiro and Atkins. They seem pretty run of the mill and by the books. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but I haven't seen much creativity in the roster structure or the in game strategy. Most of the bats they've brought in have been one dimensional. I realize there's a few kids who might pan out, but you need to have a decent roster to implement around them. And I think maybe most importantly, the pitching pipeline looks sparse. Their game-plan of being competitive in 2020 looks like a pipe-dream. Looking at the roster structure, it's hard to imagine this team being good any time soon. Tough to bring in multi-dimensional players when you have nobody of value to trade...we've been through this.
