Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 I am all for a full-on rebuild year, but I am baffled why there is no improvement whatsoever, statistically speaking. We are witnessing more regression at this stage even if we are staying neutral to the prior months of this season. I understand what you are saying but this isn't regression, it's just a bizarre team wide under performance. Everybody is underperforming like crazy. Regression would be if say Jansen hit .350 for a month, then was headed back to .250 where (at least before this season) we thought his true talent was. Every body is underperforming. Even Biggio and Vlad (I emphasize I'm not worried about those two and Biggio's sample size is low). It's weird. Everyone still has the basic characteristics we expect from them, Vlad hits the ball hard, Biggio walks, Dury gets some extra base hits, Randal is a low walk, low average guy with dingers, except everyone is just 30% worse than the projections indicated.

5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Given our poor play this year, it would be nice if we at least wouldn't have incredibly bad luck on top of it. Just goes to show what can happen when you actually put the ball in play...Not to mention actually having some speed on the roster.

Some of it could be attributed to an overall losing culture. Take Stroman for example, he seems exasperated with the lack of run support. Some of the looks on these guys faces when they show them on the bench speak volumes. I've read it mentioned here, but that's one of the problems that can arise when you have these brutal tank seasons. It can be demoralizing, especially for some of the lesser experienced players.
