Kind of getting sick of that stock line:

"Playing/managing for a team that represents an entire country is super cool"

Got to play towards the casuals everyone knows that.

No idea if this will work out but analytics interest and spanish speaking should give him a small head start. Interesting to see who he brings in as his support staff.

Keith Law liking it means it was a terrible decision. Damn.

I think Keith Law just likes it because he's Hispanic.

Check out his minor league numbers. He drew 150 walks with a .311 slugging percentage one year.

He also had a .400 minor league on base average...

Certainly it's not as simple as saying "You gotta walk more boys...". However as a hitter he appreciated the walk and have to believe he will appreciate it as a manager.

I think that could be helpful. I don't think he'll just accept that Gurriel has a 10-1 k/bb ratio (unless he's doing other things exceptionally). He'll hopefully work with guys like Gurriel, Grichuk and Travis to be a little more patient, and encourage Guerrero, Smoak, Biggio, Jansen and others to take advantage of their superior eyes.

I’d love to see some selfies of the internet warriors bashing him for his pic. Likely faces only their mother could love.

Yup. And it's not so much about him, but what his wife looks like:

Reasonable looking woman for her age, probably hotter when he first met her. Let's see the internet warriors do better!

EDIT: love the story of him being a total creeper before they met. Creepy Charlie made sure he got what he wanted.

All their top candidates either withdrew from the position or signed with another team so Jays do what they do best, go straight to the discount section and make their selection. This guy wasn't even on their list of prime Candidates. LOL

I'm convinced you're a troll.

I fully expect Buck Martinez to be a serial offender in that regard.

I’m still holding out hope that we finally will be rid of at least tabby and maybe buck too. SN finally came to their senses by booting Romanuk from the Leafs’ broadcasts, so... fingers crossed...

I think buck is fine as Shulman’s colour guy, but will he accept a permanent demotion to the new play by play guy.

I think Buck would prefer to be the colour guy, but he might be falling in love with his HR calls. Let's hope SN finds a solid play by play guy.

Regarding the Leafs, I'll never understand why Joe Bowen was never given the full time reins for TV.

From what I heard, he was a little too homerish...?

I could comment on Montoyo's looks as well....but then I'm not ten years old.

If we start winning division titles and championships I'm sure he will look beautiful to everyone.

Just watched part of the press conference via FB. Seems like a good guy, with a personality and who is funny, who will speak like a normal person and not some canned corporate speak like the robot Shapiro.

My biggest take away is that he is a winner, and winning is the priority. That is IMO the most important thing I want from a leadership perspective. Of course everyone says they want to win. However, some guys are able to populate the correct winning mentality in the team better then others and successfully make it a pillar of everything else they do.

I like so far...

Who's the c*nt that was coming through with the condescending questions?

"You were in the minor leagues for 18 years, why did it take so long?"

"You're going to be losing a lot of games here, how do you feel about that?"

Typical "empowered female in sports" attempt at projecting power.

I see you aren't familiar with Rosie DiManno

Blue Jays attendance down almost 1 million from 17 to 18 (BIGGEST DROP IN MLB). That's what happens when you let the heart and soul of the team go and bring in NOTHING to fill the void.

It's what happens when you lose. Start winning and the yokels will show up in droves.
