Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Man do we really want to trade with Brian Cashman though? As much as I like our front office, I don't recall a bad trade Cashman has made in years. If we got Frazier for Happ (which I don't think we will), I'd be more afraid of why Frazier was traded rather than excited about getting him. Go to the teams desperate to make the playoffs. Brewers, M's, Angels, etc. Droughts = desperation. We should know that better than anyone. Depends on demand of course, I doubt either want to trade within division, but...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 What a garbage strike call. Pretty bad.

Something like the Angels for maybe Marsh and Meyer could be interesting though (I don't think we'd get Adell or Maitan in a deal).

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Meyer... He wouldn't be the primary piece, but mid to upper 90s with huge movement (part of his problem), and is controllable. He'd be a real nice by low candidate, and could probably be shifted to the pen if worse comes to worse. Not sure what the status of his shoulder is atm.

I actually don't mind trading within the division, but would rather deal with Dombrowski than Cashman.

I think if baseball moved to a balanced schedule, we'd see less concern about trading within divisions. It's kinda rough to face a good prospect for half a decade or more, 18 times a year, that you gave up for a 2 month rental.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Why? It's about the take? No it’s because Cashman never loses a trade. Dombrowski treats prospects like cheap whores so there’s a chance you can fleece him depending on how desperate he is but Cashman never loses deals where prospects are involved. At least I don’t remember any off hand. I mean trade with the Yankees if they have he best offer but it’s kind of like trading with Danny Ainge in basketball. Chances are he’s getting the best player in the deal and not giving up much.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Jays against Soto will be cool again. Plus MVP Harper. Scherzer, lol... so much trouble.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Jays scoured big hits, nice!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 sanchez look good last night? Yeah, much better than his line. He got very unlucky.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 We're probably going to see another year of Justin Smoak, given the team friendly option. I envision a Chris Davis type season from Smoak next year, hard to stomach anymore.

It won't happen in the last few months of this year, let alone next year. His walk rate will still be half decent though. . 210/.310/.400 next year. Not what you want from your first baseman. His defence will remain to be good. Lyle Overbay with a bit more pop coming up.

What the f*** are you on about? Smoak and Chris Davis are nothing alike and there's no reason to believe Smoak will have an all-time horrific season next year.
