Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 This is it. The move that ruins the org for the next 20 years. There's no coming back from this.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 It's almost like it's not an MLB draft without the Jays punting their first pick
MarcoSanchez Verified Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 everyone calling for the front offices head need to relax lol, they're millions of dollars and months of scouting outweigh the 3 mock drafts you read online this week True but why another infielder?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Blue Jays have become more frustrating to watch draft than the Raptors. I don’t know how you don’t go Singer unless he’s hurt.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 True but why another infielder? Because you don't draft for need. Drafting 101
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Libertore has clearly priced himself out at this pointo. It's pretty clear he told teams he wouldn't be signing for less than top end money What's the scare on Singer though? Jays didn't sign him over medicals last time so probably that.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 Skipping the bargaining stage of grief with this one. Call me if this f***in kid does something 5 years from now.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 What's the best philosophy here. Take the BPA or a high ceiling helium kid that's a bit more signable ($3m would do it), then use that extra $1.2m to maybe seduce one or two tougher signs later in the draft?I refer you back to this question, that no one answered, after the Jays first pick.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 True but why another infielder? Im not gonna pretend I like the pick or agree with it. Im also not gonna get pissed off about it either. All these guys are years away none of us realistically know s*** outside of a few scouting reports.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 How the hell do you not take Singer....
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 I refer you back to this question, that no one answered, after the Jays first pick. Why the f*** would you not take the best player available at #12 when there's consensus top-5, top-10 guys available, and then try and save some chump change to "seduce" 2nd round talents later in the draft, where you're not even likely to sign them.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 How the hell do you not take Singer.... Pretty clearly medicals at this point, like 10 other teams passed on him too.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 The Raptors drafted Anunoby, what are you talking about lmao I’m talking about how historically piss poor the Raptors have drafted... not this past season.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 The Singer and Liberatore slide indicates likely medicals and signability respectively.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 How the hell do you not take Singer.... Im gonna go out on a limb and say it's the same reason no other team has taken him or Liberatore. This happens every year and people get pissed off every year. Oh and by the way, some of these high ranked players are still gonna be there in the second and third round, and the jays will still pass on them due to $$
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Pretty clearly medicals at this point, like 10 other teams passed on him too. 14 teams and counting....
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Why the f*** would you not take the best player available at #12 when there's consensus top-5, top-10 guys available, and then try and save some chump change to "seduce" 2nd round talents later in the draft, where you're not even likely to sign them.I don't disagree... But with this organization nothing surprised me, which is why I asked the question. I could absolutely see them trying to be the smartest ones in the room.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Nothing wrong with Singer medically. Not that I've heard or seen watching him for 3+ years
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I love Jordan Groshans swing. Hes huge as well 6’4 with smoth actions.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Nothing wrong with Singer medically. Not that I've heard or seen watching him for 3+ years HAHAHA yeah cause if there is inside information of a leaked medical report teams were able to acquire on Singer LetTheBallFly was going to be the first to know
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I believe that no one here has any idea of what they're talking about so I like the pick until proven otherwise. Always remember
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Nothing wrong with Singer medically. Not that I've heard or seen watching him for 3+ years Let's asume there is a health concern then.... just means you get the same player later on for less like they did with other guys in recent drafts
