polar bear Verified Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Surprised Luke isn't getting a bit more love on here.Right now he looks like a better option than Martin. Just saying.

He's been fantastic in the 22 PA's this year. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean we can disregard the last 300 PA's of crap. Would be nice if he can continue this mini hot streak though!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Opportunity missed for a 'Can Luke Maile Stick' thread.

CraigG Verified Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 It is amazing that he has gone from zero to hero with the bat. And his wRC+ last year was LITERALLY ZERO.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I would love it if this is a legit change going forward. I've loved what I've seen from him this year (who hasn't?) but I need to see this over a larger sample size.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I like his defense and the way he calls a game, but realistically if we can salvage anything offensively from him I'll take it. Good to see him putting together competitive AB's and come up with some big hits the last few days. I'll be surprised if it continues long-term.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 The one change that doesn't take long to stabilize is Exit Velocity. And he leads the team right now with an average EV over 96 MPH. Even if his BB/K numbers revert back to the last couple of years he should be a pretty good backup catcher if he can continue to hit the ball hard.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Any kind of offense from your backup catcher is a bonus. It would be extremely amusing if he outplays Martin though.
