HypeLikeJoseCruzJr. Verified Member Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 WHat if..... What if Smoak hit 20 bunts a day in BP for practice. Learns how to bunt well. Every time the shift is on he lays down a bunt for a single. His avg goes up, and if teams stop playing the shift on him it is a win as well. WHY the F doesn't Gibby say to Smoak you MUST bunt when the shift is on? I wonder if managers will ever say this. IMO there is no way with the whole side of the diamond open you wouldn't hit over .500 bunting. A game last week had 2 runners on, zero out and Smoak up and of course he struck out. Just spitballing but Iw onder if we will ever see this?? And Smoak would have to hit .333 ++ (consistently) to make other teams consider reducing their shift. However, they'd love it as he wouldn't have the chance to hit HR's or Doubles in doing so. Best approach would be to learn how to hit screaming ropes to 3rd (and area) which would cash in runners. Even if he only tried to go the other way on strike 1.
The Iceman Verified Member Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Smoak is avg 1 extra base hit every 11 plate appearances this season. You will grow old waiting for this. Take what they are giving you.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 You are kidding right. I've wanted Gibby gone more than anyone for 3 years lol. Don't care the reason they use. Great guy...terrible coach for the most part imo Jesus Christ. The least you could do is state a reason and who you think could do it better. I'm gonna wager a guess that you'd replace him with a guy who is either currently or most recently ran a really good team. Must have been the manager that did it, right?

And that, despite the shift, Smoak is still a well above average hitter? Why fix what is already working? Different players have different strengths.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 What a f***ing disaster. We’re going to get next to nothing for him. Not next to nothing. Nothing.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Lol Smoak has been fine this year, he's walking a ton and the strikeouts are still acceptable. Him getting a couple of bunt singles isn't going to change anything.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I guess swapping out Fulmer for Hellickson was the wrong move in DFS... He got the first out covering first and pulled a hammy.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Knock on wood... Sanchez looks pretty good today, then proceeds to walk next batter...
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Nice play, thought Travis had that dinger. Woohoo... Grichuk! Wow... Jays doing s***, lol.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Smoaky beasting... Jays going to win in unfashionable BJ's way... they look like the April Birds...
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Jays winning? What is this? Everyone slumped in May, I hope we don't see this s*** product in June.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Clippard keeps scuffling, if that was hung to another it's gone. Same guy catches two foul balls in two pitches????
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Holy f*** Buck and Dan, it wasn't the same guy who caught the second foul ball. Jeeeeeez
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Nice to see Grichuk having a good game. Beautiful opposite field stroke on the dinger.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Who would of thought staying short and thinking gap to gap would lead to successful scoring..
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Nice to see Grichuk having a good game. Beautiful opposite field stroke on the dinger. Yeah.. It was taking that 1-2 curve down and away that lead to the HR. Nice to see.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Who would of thought staying short and thinking gap to gap would lead to successful scoring.. Shaddup coach. Hitting in the MLB is easy.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Shaddup coach. Do what you do best and have another tall boy.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Shaddup coach. Hitting in the MLB is easy. You and LTBF should coach our club... I'd love to be a fly on the wall.
