jerb Verified Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Keegan Matheson @KeeganMatheson #BlueJays sign Michael Saunders to a MiLB deal. He's off to Buffalo.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Makes sense. There's no such thing as a bad minor league deal.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Hopefully he can mash in AAA and be called up relatively soon. He's actually a very nice piece for us when he's hitting. He can simultaneously keep Carrera off the field while giving Joey some rest from the outfield.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 he won't see the big league club unless Carrera gets injured again
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Good depth signing We need more to impact the big league club though
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 LOL, I love how this signing was broken by... Bob McCown? wat
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Why no Saunders in Toronto now? He is a O's killer (,998 OPS in career vs them)
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 This is excellent. And for crying out loud, can we please get rid of Carrera asap??? He's been in the league for parts of seven seasons, and still doesn't know which f***ing base to throw to.
TholesWeirdEye Verified Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Hopefully he'll just hit dingers so we won't have to watch his terrible base running.

Despite his bone headed gaffs, Carerra has been much more productive than Saunders over the last Calendar year.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Despite me not liking Zeke he was still one of our better hitters in the post season last year.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Seems like a no brainer. If finds himself. He would make a real nice platoon with Pearce and we can blast Zeke to the moon.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Why no Saunders in Toronto now? He is a O's killer (,998 OPS in career vs them) cuz he got cut from the f***ing phillies and is likely awful, just like he was for the second half of last year.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Hopefully this means Pearce does not see a RH ever.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Career numbers Since 2013, he has a 121 wRC+ against rhp (.265-.341-.461). He should be playing everyday. Kind of wish he was the everyday 1B with Smoak at DH rather than having Kendrys around, but can't do anything about that.

He seems a bit washed up to me...career high K rate and career low walk rate and clearly he is a little bit prone to injury and is 34. Is this the guy we should be relying on? I guess if we're tanking, he could be a plug while he's under contract.
