King Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 What a great bullpen arm this guy ttuned out to be. Drafted by the club and lasted so long. But he would never have the opportunity to get 30+mil in his career again. Best of luck to him in St. Louis
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Glad to see him cash in. 4 great years out of the pen here.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I wanted him back but 4 years is a bit excessive. I'm glad we didn't go over 3.

Gary Verified Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) My favourite Cecil moments are: 1. When he sucked at the beginning in the 2015 season and cost the Jays all those games then lost his job as closer 2. When he injured himself in the 2015 playoffs. Love you Brett!! RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Good reliever but he was actually supposed to be a very good no.2 starter. His career was disappointing after 2010 if you consider what expectations were at that point

You forget how dominate he was 2nd half of 2015. Or his 6 post season innings of 1 hit, no run ball
flafson Verified Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I was so-so with him last season but I'll miss him, good luck Cecil!
43211234 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I remember this start in Cleveland. He was fantastic that night and looked destined to be a solid #3 for a bunch of years: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE201005030.shtml Starting didn't work out but good for Brett to reinvent himself into a dominant reliever. His presence will be missed in the bullpen.

He'll be missed. Unlike few in the game...the hitters knew what Cecil was throwing and they still couldn't hit it. Filthy curve.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Really sorry to see him go. He has been around so long and at times as dominant pen arm as we have ever had. I'll never forget the run he had the last 2/3rds of 2015. Don't like the 4 year deal much for a pen arm, so not surprised. Wish we would have extended him in 2015 or 16. Good deal for him and his family.
