First base coach is among the most useless roles in baseball. I barely believe that Bat Boy is a demotion from it.

 

I mean atleast he gets his own coaching box. Assistant Hitting coach just grabs coffee and takes notes. Eric Owens sucked at it this year.

Got to admit I did not know that Hinske was the Assistant Hitting Coach. I usually know these useless facts.

I found a post of mine on the mlb.com board from December 1, 2013: "For some reason I think I had a dream that Eric Hinske retired and then became the Cubs' first base coach."

 

Wikipedia tells me it was announced two days later. I don't even know the reason for pointing this out but here we are.

It's kind of awesome to see both these managers expose Showalter for the idiot he is. They both know when to pull their starters. They both know to use their good relievers.
