Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Yeah, Dexter Fowler would be a perfect signing. I really have no idea what he signs for this offseason. The s*** offers he got last year were criminal. I think he has attitude issues that scare some teams off. At least I remember reports about that with the Rockies.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 Anyone like Beltran? I like that his term is likely to be bery short. Flipside of that is that he's 200 years old. Yup. 1/15?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 4 years, 72 million would be my guess. He didn't get any where near that last year. Orioles were 3 for 45 or something right? Then whatever happened did and he ended up signing with the Cubs for peanuts.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Won't the Cubs just pick up his option?
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 Won't the Cubs just pick up his option? mutual option
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 IMO there's only a few tweeks needed. What I would do: RE-SIGN - Edwin (4/100) - Cecil (2/14) - Benoit (1/8) FA-SIGN - Martin Prado: RF - Steve Pearce: 1B - Josh Reddick: LF - Various relievers

And I think they can get Benoit for 1/4 or so. Actually, starting the offseason by signing Benoit for 1 + an option would be nice.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 IMO Pearce should be a top priority.

43211234 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Lock up Ryan Tepera to a long-term deal. Trade that bum Martin and sign Navarro to start. Trade Pillar for a draft pick. The outfield will be Pompey, Zeke and Harold Ramirez. Trade Smoak for prospects and give Rowdy Tellez the 1B job.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 If Justin Smoak is on the bench or not on the team by April, I'll call this a successful offseason.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 If Justin Smoak is on the bench or not on the team by April, I'll call this a successful offseason. I really can't fathom a scenario in which he has more than a bench role to start the year. There's just no way they think that's acceptable. I really, really want him off the team though.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Pearce is a must have because he can play second base. Him and Travis probably combine for 150 games of well above average play at 2B. Also, Dexter Fowler had a 5 win season. What?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Yeah but he's coming off a career year. He will get paid. Didn't realize his stats were so much better this year.

Actually, starting the offseason by signing Benoit for 1 + an option would be nice. Oh did he? Thanks for the correction. I read on MLB Trade Rumors that he was a RFA, but I guess that's that. I still feel the other 2 would be good shrewd signings, and maybe trying to trade for Ender Inciarte as well. I'm not really sure what he would cost us though. A young 3.5 WAR player like him has to cost something decent. I'd look to sell high on Happ as well.

Not sure how much sense that makes for the team.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Is there any chance that Eric Thames is a viable DH option? lol

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 Is there any chance that Eric Thames is a viable DH option? lol The projections I've seen actually have him as a 110-120 wRC+ guy. He'd be a lot of fun on a 1-year deal.

skirbs11 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 God I would be happy if Shapiro some how worked some magic and brought Fowler, Reddick and Pearce in to the fold to replace EE and Bautista. Because as of now the 2 are walking and we have Upton and Smoak taking there at bats.

Upton won't be even considered as anything more than a 4th OF and Smoak a bench player So yes I'm sure they will retain or sign a starting caliber corner OF and 1B

Am I the only one that doesn't want another meh bat great fielder for the OF? Already kind of want to trade Pillar. Feels like defense-first guys decline first.

Geezus: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/checking-in-on-eric-thames/ His 2016 line translates to an MLE of .258/.341/.513.

Yeah, if he costs that, I don't make that move. I would be looking somewhere to find a high OBP, low K%, LH/SW bat, outfielder though. Do you have any ideas?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Not sure why everyone has such a love affair for Steve Pearce. 33 year old journeyman who had one good 60% of a season in his life. If you want him for a versatile bench piece, fine. If you'd rather have him than Smoak, fine. But the way people are talking in here you'd think he's the team's answer to replacing Encarnacion.
