burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Got back from Cleveland around 8 pm last night, holy mother of god what a dumpster fire that city is. Also, Andrew Miller is a god. Completely unhittable. Ballpark looks really nice. It does remind me of Buffalo though.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 The Jays best hitters have been sitting on fastballs for years. Even Cody Allen when he came in on Saturday was throwing slider after slider. Our big 3 just aren't seeing many fastballs to attack right now. Kudos to Cleveland for good gameplanning. Yes I completely agree with you, kudos to them, but our hitters should have realized this and adjusted their game. Doesn't even need to be the Pillars, but the disciplined ones like Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin and Tulo should at least be able to adjust
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 he failed miserably as a starter, but he found his mechanics with Boston as a reliever. He really should be given a shot to start again. More valuable as a reliever the way Cleveland uses him.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Did Miller fail as a starter? With that height and left handed arc he could have been the next Randy Johnson A real study of the game you are.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 You could say Francona is abusing him right now, but I'm also pretty sure Andrew Miller is marching into Francona's office before every game and saying "you better f***ing pitch me at least 2 innings today." He's just on a goddamn mission. Meh, he's got all offseason to rest. I wonder if Francona goes to Miller for one and Allen for two today if he has a lead. Probably not. Holy f***, in 4 relief appearances in the playoffs this year he has a 0.56 WPA lol.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 More valuable as a reliever the way Cleveland uses him. in the playoffs, sure. But during the regular season I don't think you'll be seeing Miller pitch 2 innings every other day
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Ballpark looks really nice. It does remind me of Buffalo though. It was a really nice park, I thought. The food was good and the fans were loud. It was about 30% Jays fans in attendance but the Cleveland fans never let us take over the game like in Seattle.

But during the regular season I don't think you'll be seeing Miller pitch 2 innings every other day He probably pitches 100 innings though. And when you have Kluber, Carrasco and Salazar already there's no point in taking a chance on screwing up Miller.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 Donaldson has made the adjustment Yes he has, I'm not saying he didn't, I'm saying he's on my list of people who I expect to make the adjustment. Everyone else on that list though... not so much lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I'm not sure how you are supposed to adjust to hit one of the best pitches in baseball. Miller's slider is completely ridiculous. Even if you sit on it, good luck. We are witnessing an extremely elite pitcher at the very zenith of his ability. At this rate Miller would be the obvious ALCS MVP.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 It's not like we haven't hit Miller in the past. Coming into the series I hear we had done the best against him in the league

I'm talking about Tomlin, and even like you said Cody Allen. If they're not throwing fastballs and instead breaking pitches then you adjust. If Klubers outside pitch keeps getting called then stop looking at it expecting it to be called a ball, take a swing.

If we leave it til the 7th inning to try to get a lead, we are straight up f***ed. The best you can do is tread water for a couple innings until Miller is out of the game. There's no reason the Jays shouldn't be able to tee off on Tomlin, Bauer, and Clevenger.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Has Cleveland confirmed their plans for game 4 yet? I guess if they win today they'll probably hold Kluber back?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 What's annoying is that Miller is better than Britton but he doesn't get saves, so it doesn't count. He had an absolutely stupid season and if Britton is a Cy contender, Miller should be right there too.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 Has Cleveland confirmed their plans for game 4 yet? I guess if they win today they'll probably hold Kluber back? Yes they have, Mike Clevenger takes the ball

He's been crazy good and worth the price for Cleveland. Fun fact as well, 0.15 xFIP in the post-season with a 19.96 K/9. wtf lol
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Anyone still get the feeling we are winning this? This team has won whenever they had to. I feel like Martin will be the guy to step up

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Why do you guys feel so confident about this game? Stroman gives up a s*** ton of runners so we're going to be seeing a lot of stolen base opportunities and 1st-to-3rds Bauer can be nearly unhittable and you can bet he'll be throwing lots of offspeed. This game feels more like game 1. I felt a lot better with game 2 and look what happened - we couldn't adjust at all to the Indians gameplan of offspeed pitches
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I'm not expecting a good start from Bauer.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Bauer is hit or miss, will get rattled giving up a hr to lead off batter He gave up a couple hr to Boston I think his first start and got pulled early with the lead though

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I feel like Bauer would be on the DL if this was the regular season. Ten stitches is no joke.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Yes they have, Mike Clevenger takes the ball Yeah. Even if the Jays win today I can't see Francona using Kluber on short rest when they're still up 2-1 in the series
