Love Gibby. Won't even take s*** from the MVP

Ya, a few of his moves make me insane but he is a nice, loyal guy who seems comfortable in own skin. He doesn't care about what people say. Just does his thing.

You get the sense this team of stars really likes playing for him. Even if I agreed with him being canned at some point, I wont enjoy it.

That night I met you for the game, I saw two separate guys with Gibbons jerseys on, lol. I thought that was pretty funny/rare.

Would love to see a Gibbons-Lilly combo one day.

I gave jaysblue a Lilly one... :P Or was it Towers... I think it was Towers, I still have a Hillenbrand one... won them in a closest to the hole shot in a golf tournament.

MLB.com story for those who haven't heard the interviews:

After the game, both Donaldson and his manager had a lot of fun with the media about what their discussion was about. Regardless of the specifics, it's pretty evident that there's no hard feelings between the pair and that cooler heads have prevailed. "I was coming back to the dugout and hit my bat against the thing," Donaldson said. "Gibby asked me what kind of cologne I was wearing. I said, 'It's this new cologne called Tom Ford, I just got it.' He got pretty close to me and got a good whiff of it, and I was like, 'Hey man, back up.' I was like, 'I'll give you some after the game.'"

What about Tulowitzki stepping in between the two? "I think he liked [the cologne] too," Donaldson said.

Gibbons' version of events was different, but also filled with plenty of humor. "I told him after the first at-bat, 'Get a new bat, that one ain't working,'" Gibbons said. "He took the same one up there the second time, that didn't work. He chose to break it, so I went down and told him, 'You should have listened to me.'"

After his last at-bat in the 6th inning, Josh Donaldson heads to the clubhouse with a apparent injury As for the thumb, Donaldson missed one game earlier this season because of the same issue, but he aggravated the area after grounding out in the sixth inning. He was removed from the game for precautionary reasons, but he remains optimistic about the possibility of playing Friday in Cleveland.

"Just jammed my thumb pretty good," Donaldson said. "It's obviously not the first time it has happened this year, but it got me pretty good so I didn't want to do any further damage -- going back out there again and possibly getting jammed a second or third time and having to maybe miss more time than I need to."

For the record, I like this

They were both worked up and blew off some steam and both are professional enough that I can't imagine there being any long term consequences to the confrontation

The only people who need to know what was said are those on the team. I like the humorous deflection to the keep the media away from it. It's none of their business and it doesn't do any good to have the story carry on and be a distraction.

Next game.... NEXT GAME

Gibby has his runs ins but with the exception of Shea they boil over. Lilly and him were tight and Pillar and him seem to have buried the hatchet a long time ago. Both Lilly and Pillar were being idiots and I think they know that.
