Governator Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Lake has been up since June 24th, almost a month, and has received 31 PA's. Pompey hasn't even come close to showing the consistency required to play at this level, let alone rot on the bench for a month when he could be developing. Pompey hasn't had the chance to be consistent up here. He's faster than any player on the team and consistently been a high OBP player throughout his career. Bats at 1B and Carerra/Pompey in RF would be a + move keeping both speed and power (Smoak) on the bench while providing + defense.

He's had a chance to be consistent in AAA where he's posted a .729 OPS which is a mere 14 points better than Lake. But more importantly this is about playing every day and getting consistent AB's. If he's coming up here to platoon he's not going to get the chance to do that and prove his consistency. It makes more sense to keep him in AAA and develop a better plate approach than stay up here and get the odd AB and pinch run. We may need him to be an every day OF next year.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Dont get me wrong, I get where you're coming from and I agree Pompey up here would make our team better than what we're getting with Lake. But for the purposes he will be used I think its a minor upgrade and could ultimately could hinder the development of an important future player who needs to be swinging and seeing pitches everyday.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 ^ yo ladies, on top: http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2016/7/14/12185616/dalton-pompey-speaks-about-his-concussion-experience He just came back from concussion which sounds bad. Not sure if you want him up in the majors so fast after...

I'd still want him to be post season eligible so he should be here for a couple of weeks. As a pinch runner in the postseason he had 4SB in 5G for us, that's quite valuable that no one on this team could do and if he's not up before Aug. 31st we don't have that tool.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Alright Jays, get another win and Stroshow please don't s*** the bed.

I agree but there is still time for that
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I agree but there is still time for that sure, it just seemed that Bautista being on the DL was kind of the best time to do it...
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Bunch of f***ing bangers.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 There she goes!!! WE'RE IN FLIGHT BABY!!!! MVP MVP

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Why the f*** is Lake still here over Pompey anyway? Pompey has to play every day. I think it's time to package Pillar while he still has value.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Pillar hitting ahead of Travis is mind boggling.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Late on 3 fastballs down the middle
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Stick it Barney haters!!! It should have been a ground out to 2B...
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 so Tabler thinks Storman will be better today than in Oakland... I guess if he doesn't burst into flame on the mound he'd almost have to be better than last game.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Terrible throw by Lake. God he's so useless.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Terrible throw by Lake. God he's so useless. ???
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Pompey has to play every day. I think it's time to package Pillar while he still has value. I think if Pompey was here he could have been given a lot more play time than Lake was getting. They could put EE at 1B more, Saunders at DH and Carerra/Pompey in the OF, just for example. Even having 1 of either Carerra or Pompey on the bench helps us. However, after hearing he's had a rough go to recovery from his concussion probably not ideal regardless.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Terrible luck for Stroman this inning
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Cool K, get out of this Marcus
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Terrible luck for Stroman this inning Luck/bad luck doesn't exist, not knowing how to properly pitch does however.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 2-1. Could have been worse. Nice pick Edwin. Been playing some solid 1B
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Good job by both corner infielders there, big out for sure.
