This is Good is it not?

With two to go we have $ 409,000

Still in hand!!! 734,195 to +5

How is the money for the rest and overages handled?

Just updated the table on the front.

http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/6367-2016-Blue-Jays-Draft-Signing-Thread

Looks like we have already gone over the slot amount with 1 to go (Kirby Snead waiting for college world series to end). Should still get under that 5% threshold though. That's also without knowing if we gave overslot $ to anyone other than Hosterman in rounds 11-40.

Correct me if my math is wrong...

Slot value for 1st 10 rounds if I add it up is $6,603,300

Add a 4.9999% overage to that and it brings us to $6,933,465

The deals for the first 10 rounds is $6,428,100

Leaving $505,365

Travis Hosterman signed for $400,000 in the 11th round...which is $300,000 over the allowed $100,000 for each pick from round 11-40.'

That takes our remaining to $205,365.

Sound about right?

Sounds about right yeah. Then sign Snead for slot and offer the rest of the leftover money to Winckowski.

Nevermind.

I mucked up the Kirby Snead sitiation....

But basically, if we really have a hard-on for Snead we can offer him $156,600 + $205,365 = $361,965

Of if he signs for slot we have an extra $205K to throw at someone in that Round 11-40 group, beyond the $100,000./

We didn't draft any guys that would sign for $10,000 in the top 10 rounds more as we went for guys who would go slightly overslot/slightly underslot, back and forth etc.

Ya. I was hoping for a couple of throw away College picks (as much as Graveman and Girodo were throw away picks) and try to pool some money together for high ceiling player.

Guess those days are over.

Any news at all on 13th rounder Chris Lincoln? Seemed like one of our more 'projectable' picks...

Nothing. He probably goes unsigned at this point. But who knows, things can change quickly, like Reggie Pruitt last draft.

Yeah I figured by this point we'd usually see some indication that he's at least considering his options but haven't heard a thing. He does sound like the type of kid that may be able to really improve his stock.

A call from a family member sometimes can make all the difference, even if the guy on the other end of the phone comes from the extended family and wears blue and orange in New York City.

Legumina is committed to Gonzaga and Morell is set to go to Grand Canyon University.

On the second day of the draft, the Blue Jays called Legumina’s father to see if they would be willing to sign if he was selected within the first 10 rounds, but the financial side of it didn’t work out.

“It was hard to say to no to the offer,” Legumina said. “Schooling means a lot to my family, and it wasn’t enough to pass up a scholarship. So they said they’d take me later in the draft if they could to see if something could be worked out.”

The Blue Jays ended up taking him in the 25th round as Legumina became the highest East Valley high school selection.

Which begs the Question if he already refused top ten money... Why take him later in the draft even?

Seems like a waste of a pick!!!

We can still offer $305k to him (assuming our last top 10 round pick signs for slot).

Not sure about that when we already went over by 300,000 on pick 11 in the draft already! That plus one I thought for sure I read on here is to be considered a Hard Sign! Maybe both are the most we have is around 217,000 each with the money spent on the money at 11 and having to stay under the +5 ! Unless we are going to break the bank and lose picks and pay the fines! Since we may have 3-5 first round picks next year after Qualifying

I've seen conflicting numbers posted. But worst case, we should have an extra $114k to throw at the very $100k were already allowed to offer.

Ok ok trying to figure out the finer details of the draft here... Help!!!

Do the rules on overages apply to the whole draft or only the first ten rounds of the draft with assigned slotted money values?

Jays slotted money values is

$ 6,665,900 for the first ten rounds

So what money do they have to sign the next 30 picks? Believe I saw it at

$ 100,000 so 3,000,000.

So do we have a pool of $ 9,665,900

Plus 5 to sign all these guys ?

Is the max $ 10,149,195 ?

The slot values are for the first 10 rounds. Every round 11-40 any players you sign for more than $100k it will count to your bonus pool. Ex. Hosterman signed for 400k, that is 300k more than the max amount, so 300k will count to the pool of money you have to spend.

Posted

So is $ 9,665,900 our total pool of money allowed to be spent then?

Or is the plus 5 at $ 10,149,195 the max we can spend without losing picks?

Or if Snead sign at slot we are with in

$ 44,000 dollars of going over the plus 5 already after signing that guy for

$ 300,000 over already in round 11?

Or can you go the plus 5 on each rounds Value 11- 40 as well to under the rules?

The $100k max from rounds 11-40 doesn't count towards the spending pool. Only anything after that does.

So then my Snead example applies if you do the math???

That is if your saying the plus five rule only to the top ten and not overall!

Is that the Smack your throwing down here King!!! Lol

no pool is $6,665,900 + 5% = $6,999,195

The rounds after 10 only count against the pool if the bonus is greater than $100,000. There is no 5% overage on those signings

Currently jays have spent $6,728,100 against their bonus pool of $6,834,765 ($6509,300 *1.05). That leaves 106,665. I've left the 10th round money out of the calculation for now.

if the 10th pick signs, and we assume at slot of $156,600 then the bonus pool goes to the max of $6,999,195 and they get the extra $7,830 to play with. That means the jays only have an extra $114,495 to go over the $100k on any additional over 10th round signings

I didn't think they had an extra $100K to throw at someone like Young.

Seems like they were able to grab a few more late round highschoolers than usual.

I assume they used every penny but avoided the penalties?
