On the bump... R.A. Dickey RHP

Dickey continues to be plagued by the long ball, and he has now surrendered eight homers over his last six starts. He's also allowed four earned runs in each of his last two starts, but has actually pitched better than his lines would indicate.

David Price will make his much anticipated return to the Rogers Centre mound and deny the Blue Jays a sweep of the Red Sox in the finale of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

Acquired by the Blue Jays at the non-waiver Trade Deadline last season, Price went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 11 starts down the stretch with Toronto and helped the team win the American League East and make its first playoff appearance since 1993.

The former AL Cy Young Award winner signed a seven-year, $217 million contract in the offseason with the Red Sox, and so far he is 7-1 with a 5.34 ERA. The Vanderbilt product did face Toronto at Fenway Park on April 16, allowing two runs and striking out nine in Boston's 4-2 win.

Price will be opposed by former teammate and fellow 2012 Cy Young Award winner R.A Dickey. The 40-year-old knuckleballer is already 0-2 this season against Boston and will have to deal with the red-hot Xander Bogaerts and his 21-game hitting streak, the longest active streak in the Majors.

Bogaerts extended his streak with a fourth-inning home run on Saturday and has gone 4-for-12 with a home run, seven RBIs and a .976 OPS against Dickey in his career.

Three things to know about this game

• With the Blue Jays placing starting shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, expect infielder Darwin Barney to get the start at shortstop against Price. The right-handed-hitting Barney is expected to split time at shortstop with the left-handed-hitting Ryan Goins in Tulowitzki's absence and is 0-3 with two strikeouts against Price.

• Price has been dominant against the Blue Jays in his career, going 17-2 with a 2.42 ERA in 22 starts. The 17 wins are the most Price has accumulated against any opponent, while the ace lefty is also 11-1 with a 3.34 ERA at Rogers Centre.

• Josh Thole is expected to get the start behind the plate to catch Dickey. Thole has started behind the plate in all of Dickey's appearances this season, and he is 1-for-4 lifetime against Price.
