THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Such a horrendous display tonight by all involved offensively.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Dickey is only hated because we traded Syndergaard for him. Otherwise he's pretty much been exactly what we paid for minus his slow starts. If we had signed him to a free agent deal where he was expected to be a #4, people would probably be okay with him. That's not what happened, and people are justified in complaining based on how he was "sold".
jimmygibbssr Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I think moving RA to the Giants would make sense.

Otherwise he's pretty much been exactly what we paid for minus his slow starts. Jays offered up some prime young players and didn't get the Cy Young winner they were trading for. It was probably forseeable, but still. Would anyone have traded that package for Mark Buehrle? Very doubtful. That's on the FO who made the move though, but Dickey is obviously the most visible goat.

Well, we were expecting a guy that just won a Cy Young to be pretty good, and there were excited pages and pages debating the Dickey effect..... and got mediocre and no effect. And yes, Thor, d'Arnaud, and Becerra too (155 wRC in A+ ball)
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Didn't even make the Yanks burn their big 3 because we couldn't even get 1 run.

And yes, Thor, d'Arnaud, and Becerra too (155 wRC in A+ ball) No... WE weren't, AA was though. Most of us around these parts thought that was the stupidest f***ing trade we'd ever seen. It was a dumb trade from the moment it was proposed. Was terrible on its face, one of the worst trades I've seen in my lifetime (Sirotka was worse, but only slightly...)

Well I agree with the 2nd part - I almost passed out when the trade came down. But we WERE expecting better than what we got from Dickey. No one was expecting another Cy, but most were expecting No. 1 or 2 starter numbers, not back of the order mediocrity.
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 They will have to do something.....change the manager and batting coach just to get different voices....there is nothing else they can do and it couldn't make it any worse..
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Why not just let Dickey finish this out?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I don't get why the Jays are even throwing out pitchers whose names I know at this point... Just give your shittiest pitcher the ball (f***, let Martin pitch at this point) and come back tomorrow.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I would. lol, didn't you say peace out?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Why not just let Dickey finish this out? Indeed, Gibby is just a moron

I did not expect a late 30s pitcher to be anything other than terrible. Actually, the fact that he's been an okay #4 pitcher was more than I expected.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 lol, didn't you say peace out? Yes, Jays are my psychotic hobby.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I would. I would too, there's some value in a #4 that can give you a lot of innings.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I find it hard to believe you thought a guy coming off a Cy was going to be terrible. LATE 30s. Not hard to predict that he was going to regress.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 People can bitch about Dickey all they want, but he's obviously far from being the problem with this team. Offence and BP are just disgusting.

It was a dumb trade from the moment it was proposed. Was terrible on its face, one of the worst trades I've seen in my lifetime (Sirotka was worse, but only slightly...) The Miami trade brought us a pitcher ( Johnson) who was well regarded...another ( Buehrle) who was a veteran innings eater...and a star (reyes)... Unfortunately, only Buerhrle came as advertised.. The Tulo trade brought us a franchise type player...but he just seemingly got old much faster than expected.. The Dickey trade was a disaster from the day it was announced.... a 38 year old knuckleballer for their top catching prospect and a young pitcher everyone expected to be a stud.. But
