If he's throwing 4SM and working the entire strike-zone, this probably isn't happening.

 

If he can't command his 4 seamer the ball is likely going over the wall and there are still going to be runs. He's pitching badly, it happens.

We complain he's pitching to contact because he is. The guy is throwing multiple 0-2, 1-2 2SM, it's ridiculous.

 

If he can't command his 4 seamer the ball is likely going over the wall and there are still going to be runs. He's pitching badly, it happens.

 

If he's sequencing his pitches well, then he can still flourish with subpar command, because of the life to his pitches, in a similar vein to Sanchez, only better command tonight.

That's why this team is broken...2 strike count fastball down the middle...taken for strike 3. So freaking bad. Every other major league team would crush that pitch

He just had 3 starts with a ton of strikeouts so I'm sure he isn't going to suddenly want to go away from that. That 0-2 sinker was a horrible pitch no doubt but his breaking ball has been crap tonight which is why he isn't getting whiffs.

Well he just got 2 whiffs using it in good counts.

I don't think he knows what a 4 seam fastball is. He said he has been throwing it more but other than 1 game I haven't seen any. Just 2S and cutters

Case in point- Good breaking ball= whiffs. Has nothing to do with throwing a 4 seam.

 

The 4SM is a different issue. When you're tossing a lot of 2SM and then go up with a 4SM, the hitter will usually swing under it because their expecting sink.
