Left-hander Martin Perez will get the start for Texas while the Blue Jays will counter with veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. This series marks the second and final time these two teams will meet this year, at least during the regular season. The Blue Jays and Rangers met earlier this month for the first time. Toronto took two of the three games and outscored the Rangers 8-6 over that span, with each game decided by two runs or fewer. Perez tossed five scoreless innings in a 3-1 loss to Toronto on May 3. It was his first career appearance against the Blue Jays during the regular season but he also faced them in Game 3 of last year's ALDS as he took the loss after surrendering four runs over five innings. "I just need to pitch and win," Perez said. "They give me the ball ... I have to focus and do my best. They are tough, but I trust my stuff. I don't concern myself with who we are playing. I need to throw strikes, make my pitches and trust my stuff." Dickey faced the Rangers on May 2 and limited Texas to one run on six hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings. He made his postseason debut against Texas in Game 4 of the ALDS and allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings, falling one out shy of picking up the victory. Things to know about this game: • Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus is 0-for-12 off Dickey, which are his most at-bats without a hit against any pitcher in his career. • Toronto catcher Russell Martin will get the day off Friday with Dickey on the mound. Dickey's personal catcher Josh Thole will get the start instead as Martin enjoys rare back-to-back days off following Thursday's team off-day. • The Rangers are 6-17 against the Blue Jays since the start of 2013. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2016_05_13_tormlb_texmlb_1#game=2016_05_13_tormlb_texmlb_1,game_state=Pregame http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Uje0_DtB5Zo/UVw7PrcXj6I/AAAAAAAAFFY/GKsVJq_X4ow/w1200-h630-p-nu/crazy+bat+guy+blue+jays+game+gif.gif LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Thanks! I hope Dickey can give a good outing again and the bats can heat up in Arlington, also if Jose hits a home run I hope he stands at the plate and imitates a selfie photo to stir the entire state of Texas into an uproar.
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I hope this will be a watchable game with Dickey pitching. I plan to PVR it and watch it at fast forward.

My wife woke me up this morning and said she put $20 on the Jays winning tonight, I rolled over and said "You're an idiot, Dickey is pitching you fool" then I went back to bed. Fail on her ass.

Compounding things is the fact that Holland was originally scheduled for this start and they pushed him back.

Oh I didn't know that, either way lets hope some bats heat up for the Jays and Dickey can give up no more than 3 runs.

He hasn't been bad the last 2 starts. One typical unlucky circus inning off LAD last Sat. Couple dribblers....BB....and a solid hit. Then there was CF shot into the WestJet flight deck. But I'm PVRing too for same reason
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I'm the bitterest guy during Dickey starts. Every time I see his frustrated body language on the mound I get irritated. He's not even awful, but I just can't stand his random complete losses of control often followed by a wild pitch. Not to mention all the full counts and jams where you have to just pray a ball lands in a glove because a huge K once in a while is just too much of a wish to come true. I mean I don't even hate the guy. He's just anti-entertainment.

I am watching the Red Sox pregame right now and they don't have a knuckleball only catcher for their guy, so ridiculous that management lets this go on, get a real backup catcher.

GF thinks I'm nuts.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Well, I'm 4 beers in, so Dickey can only phase me so much at this point...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Dammit, I didn't even notice that Pillar is leading off again.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 What was JD saying there? He got quickpitched, which is illegal now.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I still believe that if you bunt you should be declared automatically out. Runners can try to advance, but a bunt should be an auto-out.
Rovert Verified Member Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 200+ innings of suck nothing wrong with him he just gets used wrong , perfect 4-5 guy f*** he might even win 20 games in 5 spot but all these match ups vs decent pitching over years is just f***ed.
