gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 What are you talking about? I thought i read he had 5 errors so far when in fact he has 2. My mistake.
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I'm all for Travis being called up sooner rather than later, but he'll have to improve on his one error per game average when he gets here. Edit.. I thought i read he had 5 errors in the minors so far, when in fact he has 2. Sorry.. Actually it does say 5 in this box score - http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2016_05_21_pawaaa_bufaaa_1&t=g_box&sid=milb . He seemed ok at 2nd base in 2015.

nextyear Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Lol.. You made the same mistake i made. The 5 errors is on Pawtucket's first baseman Sam Travis. Thanks for the clarification. (yes it was under the Pawtucket stats) Pompey had an error today for Buffalo, his second of the year (not too bad)
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I thought i read he had 5 errors so far when in fact he has 2. My mistake. Actually, Devon Travis has only one error in seven games so far.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I remember Travis' defense was really shaky in spring training, but once the season started he seemed to get it together. Might have to do with the fact that the Tigers were trying to transition him to the OF and he was rusty at 2nd.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Barney can be a defensive sub late in the games for Travis.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I don't think the downgrade on defense from Goins to Travis is even remotely close to the massive upgrade on offense. Travis was a positive defender in his time last year before the injury and there's no reason to expect him to be suddenly below average. He's not elite by any stretch, but he's not a brick-handed moron either. Travis had made 6 times the contributions to the Jays in 238 PAS than Goins has made in 861. It's not close.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Barney can be a defensive sub late in the games for Travis. * if that's even necessary.
