Slade Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I would hate to let one of the elite hitters of the past 6 years leave but you can see he's losing a step now. He'll be 36 when his current contract is up and even 80M/4years seems like too much. Give that kind of money to Edwin who is arguably the better hitter.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 You call yourself big red. What do you think that means, ya drunken baboon? ftfy http://www.popsci.com/sites/popsci.com/files/styles/medium_1x_/public/import/2013/images/2013/04/macaqueblack.jpg?itok=jl4shO-T
Todd Van Anus Verified Member Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Anyone know what Jose Bautista is up to these days? Has he officially retired from baseball?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Basically the same contracts you've stated, but even then I'd rather explore other things first (like EE/JD extensions). I like the odds of Bautista's demands falling quite a bit this year though. He's super old so he'll probably get hurt once or twice, maybe hit a bit worse, maybe look even more like a DH/1B. Good call. I'm so glad Bautista pushed himself out of his own market. Someone kick gbill in the nuts, thanks.
Kelly Gruber Verified Member Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Interesting this got bumped, as was just thinking about this recently. The best thing Jose Bautista ever did for the Blue Jays was ask for 5/150 instead of the 5/125 we would probably have agreed to. Can you imagine our rebuild if we still had 2/50 remaining on the books (end of 2021) on the player he became late career?

It gets brought up once in awhile, but EE all the time, and he was offered what he accepted plus a team option to where he wanted to sign. lol... idiot. His agent's a dumbass.

Just imagine having Bautista still with the Jays s***ing the bed every night, making $25 million per season for the next 2-3 years.

They would've done the same thing they did with Tulo and Russell...pay someone else to take him.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Hey, he still put up 1 fWAR in 120 games last year, don't think its fair to compare him to Tulo who literally couldn't even play for the last two years.

Comparing him to Tulo in that he would've been cut loose. Likely in a deal, where we retain most of his salary.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
