G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I don't believe this game is on TV. You're right Crap OK excited to see.how he fares during the first few weeks and how his stuff looks
blueballs Verified Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I think Floyd could be starting tomorrow. Dickey is starting then i don't know after that likely Chavez because they are laying off on Estrada for a couple days and Happ pitched Monday. Also Floyd could be in there as well
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 It's nice to have several guys legitimately competing for rotation spots Depth is good
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Devon White batted lead off when the Jays won the World Series. Good athlete with great defense and low OBP. It works. / Buck Martinez Devo's wRC+ in 92 when we first won the WS was.....93. Same as Pillars 2015. His OBP was .303....UG.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 pretty sure it's just game day audio.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 We get to listen to competitive walks instead of watch them. Should be interesting. That Chavez trade was pretty f***ing stupid if they put him in the bullpen.
fireballW Verified Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Pillar leading off, even a spring training game, is giving me an ominous and uneasy feeling. To play devils advocate, Pillar has shown the contact skills to hit for a high enough average in the minors that he could keep his OBP somewhere between respectable to good. Last year was his first full year in the MLB, so some of us are being a bit hard on him. Logically, there is a chance he could hit around .290 and throw up an OBP near .340 which wouldn't be that bad. It's just he does not pass the eye test because he'd take hacks for the fence all the time last year, especially late in games, when he should have been just trying to get on base. He doesn't pass the ear test either, seemingly having a milder version of JPA syndrome, where he seems to think he is the shiz already and doesn't really give the impression he understands that he is not the offensive hero of the team. Guy needs to seem more willing to learn and take on the role of getting on base.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 It's nice to have several guys legitimately competing for rotation spots Depth is good Last year IIRC we had three guy vying for two spots (Norris, Sanchez and Estrada). This year, Estrada has basically traded places with Hutch on the depth chart and there are 4 guys (Chavez, Sanchez, Danks, Hutch) competing for only one spot.

That Chavez trade was pretty f***ing stupid if they put him in the bullpen. Would you say the Lind trade was stupid because Estrada was put in the bullpen (which he was)? Chavez's value as a guy who can make starts doesn't disappear if he starts the season in the bullpen. That won't determine whether or not it was a stupid trade.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Danks? Sorry, I meant good John Danks, i.e., Gavin floyd not bad Gavin Floyd, i.e. John Danks.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Apparently a pretty solid outing by Dick, Weak blooper for a double and a check swing hit into RF was the cause of the run. No Sanchez turn
