Sorrow Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 It's been really good so far. Good summary on reddit ( ) I'm actually impressed with Bobcat not being a complete ass with Shapiro yet.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 I'm actually impressed with Bobcat not being a complete ass with Shapiro yet. I had my popcorn ready.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Lol Bob is actually behaving.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 He's actually made a lot of sense so far
Sorrow Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Shapiro talking and being direct is a refreshing change. I enjoy how Shapiro also says "I don't need to defend myself, go ask someone like Antonelli, or x/y/z if you want to know about me".
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Ugh he's so smart that it hurts If I ever cracked a smile, it would be ear to ear right now
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Ugh he's so smart that it hurts If I ever cracked a smile, it would be ear to ear right now He's definitely very well spoken. Seems a lot more comfortable with guys like Bob than AA was. I'm impressed
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 And hearing him talk about things like adding incremental wins, translating draft picks to $$.... definitely a fangraphs dot com guy
leaffie Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 While I was not pleased with the hire, or the methods used by Rogers, must admit that he comes across, as very knowledgeable, well spoken, and seems to have a plan. Liked his handling of Dunedin and their plans there.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Can't remember a more eloquent guy in blue Jay's management. Seems like the right guy for the job.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Id say I'm confident in him, based on what I hear so far. Pretty much agree with everything he said.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 "Everything is almost the same in this front office....except I actually have a baseball background." Shapiro, you beautiful subtle ******* you.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 So can we go too Arizona please. That would be cool.
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 So can we go too Arizona please. That would be cool. f*** dat! I hope they stay in the Clearwater/Tampa area if they leave Dunedin.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 f*** dat! I hope they stay in the Clearwater/Tampa area if they leave Dunedin. Where though thats the question. In Arizona atleast you can build the facility you want.

I enjoy how Shapiro also says "I don't need to defend myself, go ask someone like Antonelli, or x/y/z if you want to know about me". Didn't Shapiro hire Antonetti. Obviously Anto isn't going to talk s*** about him...I did however see a glare in Shapiro's eyes when AA's name and heroism was brought up.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Shapiro/Atkins + top 10 payroll is going to be fun to watch.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I liked what he said about recovery. I wonder if the team will send the opening SP on a road trip the night before so he can get a better sleep instead of flying in at 3AM the night before he starts. That seems like a small competitive advantage that you hear Shapiro/Atkins constantly referencing.

admin Site Manager Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 The circle jerk is strong. Used to be like this about AA.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Full interview. http://pmd.fan590.com/audio_on_demand-4/Shapiro-pts-20160113-Interview.mp3
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 My favourite statement "our focus needs to be an obsessive focus on infusing talent" speaking of our farm system and giving up a draft pick for Gallardo. Its an obvious statement but leadership starts at the top in a successful org. Gave me an iro-gasm.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Great interview Worth a listen if you have half an hour

gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) I heard Shapiro listens to Drake and Def Leppard CDs with the volume cranked, on repeat, in his office all day long. He does some bad ass lip synching during his lunch break. Edited February 1, 2016 by gbill2004
