Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 There are depth moves, then lack of depth moves. This is a lack of depth move. Depth is a position of weakness for this organization. We get the table scraps. lol...

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 sheep depth is a hole because AA Agreed, Shapiro has quite a mess to mop up. I love these guys that get so excited about picking up a 27 year old whose thrown nil in the bigs. Just call it what it is, a yawner bandaid on the dam.

I don't believe anyone in here is genuinely excited over this move. Unless Leon suddenly figures it all out in AAA, hopefully he never pitches an inning for the Jays. If he does have to in a pinch, let's all hope he doesn't completely suck. There's a wee bit of upside left. This move is what it is: AAA depth.

There's a wee bit of upside left. This move is what it is: AAA depth. Leon is out of options. He'd have to clear waivers to hit AAA. That might happen but I think the intent is for him to compete with Delaballs and Biagini for one of the last two bullpen spots.

Maybe he sticks, maybe he doesn't.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Don't get me wrong, I'd rather add Chapman, but this is what we have to deal with and I think Shapiro is doing a good job.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Poor Shapiro left with a 93 win team the best offense in baseball and a huge fanbase with $ to spend in the offseason how ever will he manage Wait this feels a lot like the Indians team that he took over, during his tenure he completely allienated the Indians fanbase Destroyed the roster and murdered the franchise. In 15 years he took the Indians to the playoffs exactly twice in what was often the weakest division in baseball Him leaving Cleveland is the best thing to happen to that city since they drafted Lebron.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 No fooling? Sorry, stop trying man.

Yeah I expect Leon to get a serious look in Spring Training as a reliever. He's not a good SP, but maybe they see something in him out of the pen. If not, they lose him on waivers or he slips through and adds depth to AAA. Ultimately, nothing of value was lost if he doesn't make the team. Not a move to be excited about, but you throw enough of these failed starters into relievers, and maybe one or two of them pan out. That's really the best way to go if you have no money to get established relief help.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 So there are 2 spots left in the pen assuming its Chavez-Loup-Sanchez-Cecil-Osuna. Biagani Penny Hernandez Leon Delabar Venditte Missing anyone?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 LeBlanc. Nah... Biagani and Leon have no options, well Biagani is a rule 5 starting pitcher, both will be used as late inning arms.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Simple math, unless they make the club.
