i like how alford was supposed to be a star quarterback in college but has a below average throwing arm..

 

Have you ever watched the Read-Option Offense run in College? Arm strength is not the most important. Foot speed, strength, throwing accuracy,decision making and toughness are equally as important or more important than arm strength. Arm Strength is far down the list of skills necessary in some of the offenes run in College.

Apparently Russell Martin died or something and Tulo lost a hip?

 

Well Martin's contract expires in 2019 and he'll be 36yo. At 32yo he was already the second oldest qualified C in the majors last season. By 2019 Tulo will likely have shifted from SS. I forget who it was but it was someone with inside info and access to AA said that the longterm plan with Tulo was to slide him to 1B. They thought it would help him stay healthy and the bat would play. Probably a better defender than Tellez at 1B. IMO 2019 Tellez = DH and Tulo = 1B. Martin is likely a backup.
