League of Newbs

We recently opened up a spot in one of our other leagues, and there is a lot of interest from some of the newer board participants.

 

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new league, with new players.

This league is just for new people that aren't in any of the big dynasty leagues: DDL, BBDL or LOD.

 

It will also be a proving ground, for those looking for a chance to get into one of the dynasty leagues, with the board veterans.

I'm not going to participate, but I'll help organize and get it off the ground.

 

Post here if you are interested. This will be a one-year league with the standard 7x7 categories done through Yahoo (free).

 

AVG, OBP, SLG, R, RBI, HR, SB

 

ERA, WHIP, K/BB, K, W, SV, HLD

 

Sign up List:

If any of these people are terrible trolls, let me know, and we'll make sure they're serious before letting them in.

Yup. Got to wait to see if we can get 20 people though. Things are looking good though.

But you can start ranking your picks to get ready.

 

I'll be giving out some pointers on how to draft later.

We'll set the draft date a couple of weeks after we get 20 signed up, to give everyone time to get ready and make their prospect sheets.

I'm a genuine and certified noobie and may embarrass myself in the league. But there's nothing quite like fantasy to help with player awareness and push me to learn more, right?

yea i left, only because i couldnt keep up with the demand of the league. u guys seemed pretty wired 24/7 with the forum n league.king,as you would know, u kept emailing for 3 weeks on to trade frikking wade miley, it was like the middle of NOV.

 

I only joined because i thought it was be amazing to be involved and natural progression as I was involved with MPL and Arab spring league in the old forums/new forums. But clearly I was out-of-depth when it came to dynasty league and the fact i wasnt an active poster, i felt like s***. So I voluntarily told JFAS im leaving for the betterment of the league. then hockey dynasty guys took note, i got kicked out. watever. Dynasty, i will never do it, especially a 20-teamer, lol.

 

Anywayz, like i said to the re-draft fantasy basketball guys, I would glady join but its up to the commish and the managers if they want me.

It's not a Dynasty, I thought it was, aselvana would be up for this, it was my mistake. He's been involved in our redrafts from the forum in the past.

Yeah, wouldn't be right to set up a dynasty league with unproven players. Probably too many guys dropping out, which frustrates the players who are going for a long term strategy.

But I fully expect we'll be able to identify many decent fantasy players from this, who we can include in the new dynasties that start up or as replacement owners.

AG you mentioned ranking our guys. Is this something we do on the side or is there a yahoo club created already?

Yeah, you just do it on the side.

 

So, that when the draft starts, you have an idea of who you value the most.

Ideally, you want to have a list all sorted out in advance - otherwise you'll end up using the Yahoo rankings as a rough guide which are geared towards a 5x5 fantasy league, so they're going to overvalue some stats and ignore others.

 

I think it would probably be best to do an offline draft, so you won't have the same time pressure as an online draft. Plus, it's easier to coordinate.

We're looking for people who have established some kind of presence. If it's your first post, and you just started your account this month, it's pretty optimistic to think you'll be committed.
