BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Sean Doolittle is about to go on a rehab assignment, so I'm looking at trading Mychal Givens to open up a spot. In a league with 22 keeper spots, I think he's a pretty nice pen arm. 2.85 ERA since breaking in in 2015 with 10.86 K/9. He's currently the 149th most valuable player in our league this year.

Gets lots of Ks...except for this year, his K% is down about 10%. Nice time to buy low, potentially. His SwStr% is down by a little over 6% from last season and his contact % is up by 11%, but it's probably just bad luck on balls in play. Nope, wait - his BABIP is actually down by 50 points this year. Hmmm...maybe his FB% is inexplicably high. Let's see... nope, that's actually lower than last season as well. His xFIP is 4.70... really nice time to buy low. But I don't believe you should take just anything for him. Make sure you get enough before you sell.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I believe jays_fever needs to drop or promote two prospects to make this deal happen. I thought the cap of prospects in the league was 14? P2F currently has 14
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I thought the cap of prospects in the league was 14? P2F currently has 14 Right, you're allowed 14 until the MiLB draft, but then I think we have to cut down to 12. Trying to find the confirmation on this now. Anyone have it handy?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Do we actually have a cap during the season? Didn't the flexible keeper capability mean that prospect caps were only enforced at cutdown?
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 KEEPER RULES On March 1st prior to the rule 5 Draft (March 7) – teams must trim their MLB rosters down. Teams can roster a maximum of 32 total players through the cut down with a maximum of 22 MLB and 14 MiLB being allowed. For example, teams can decide to keep 22 of their MLB players but would only be allowed to carry 10 MiLB. If teams choose this setup their redundant waiver picks will dissolve. If teams acquire more than 12 prospects via trade or draft then they can cut down to a minimum 18 MLB players and carry a maximum of 14 prospects through the cut down period but will be required to cut down to a maximum of 12 prospects before the July MiLB draft. Trades between the cut date and the Rule 5 Draft need to have equal numbers of MLB players + waiver picks on both sides, to ensure each team exits the Rule 5 Draft with 25 players. After the season has concluded and prior to the Cut Date, roster size (both MLB and MiLB) is unlimited. Owners may acquire as many MLB & MiLB players via trade as they wish, so long as their rosters are cut down to the maximum allowable size by mid-February. No free agents may be picked up via the Yahoo database after the conclusion of the playoffs until the conclusion of the Rule 5 Draft.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 So knowing that you'll have to cut down to 12 before the July draft, you'll have to decide if you still want to make the deal.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I opted to keep two additional prospects at cut-downs, which I assumed expanded my max for the entirety of the season. Is that incorrect? Edit: oh.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Edit: Yes I'll cut Brandon Nimmo and DJ Peterson which is what I was planning on anyways
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I was planning on cutting DJ peterson and Brandon Nimmo before the draft anyways so I can do that now, but I was under the impression that you can carry 14 guys on your farm until the Feb cut down when you then have the option of a larger farm or mlb roster It's unlimited through the offseason, then max of 14 until the MiLB cut down in July, then 12 until the offseason.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I just claimed Nimmo btw, as soon as jays_fever announced he was cutting him. (he played in 32 games last year). Let me know if this isn't okay.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 With Tallion + Rondon back soon plus the additions of JD Martinez and Archie Bradley i feel like i'm in a good position to win the division. It was an expensive price to pay but felt it was a move i had to make.

Yeah, you definitely made a big offer (although there's some value to AB too, who is looking great out of the pen, and the picks). I offered 2 top 40 prospects plus Heaney for JD and never even got a response. Guess I know why now.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Is anybody else selling? I've got some prospects I could trade for the right player: Clint Frazier A.J. Reed Josh Hader Jason Groome Manny Margot Fernando Romero Justin Dunn Phil Bickford

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I'm willing to sell Cesar Hernandez and/or Dee Gordon. If anybody needs a no-pop 2B, I'm your next trade partner for sure.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 OK, with Urias sent down, Duffy and Paxton injured, I need at least one more starter. Could use a really good pitcher or just a guy who has a regular rotation spot. Have the following to offer. Neil Walker (2B) Chad Pinder (2B) Maikel Franco (3B) Leury Garcia (CF) Mitch Moreland (1B) Trey Mancini (OF) Austin Hedges ©
