How often are C fantasy relevant? Outside of the guys like Bart and AR (who are hardly sure things), I’m not sure if picking a C in the first couple rounds is the best strategy. So you shouldn’t regret the miss

Yes, let's just avoid drafting good hitting catcher prospects. I assume this line of thinking is how we got to take Kirk at 27. These are all just lottery tickets and I have absolutely no problem taking a flyer on a guy who can rake at an incredibly weak fantasy position.

Here's our perspective of the trade.

 

Vlad has not really developed as hoped and although he's still 21 he's going to lose 3B eligibility next year. We have Goldy and Olson locked in at 1B.

 

We don't have a lot of room to take on prospects or picks, or position players and we are trying to compete. So from our perspective, we weren't going to get offered a better pitcher than Buehler for Vlad.

 

The trade makes a lot of sense for us beyond the 1 for 1 value swap and I think that by getting Buehler we were able to maximize our return.
