King Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Is there a place where I can find all the rule changes that were made this offseason with the switch to fantrax Thanks
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 King, I’ll get to your request later today. So L54, his brother Chubs, and spittin are the only ones who didn’t get their cuts in. I’ve locked trades while we figure out what to do. If any of you know someone who would be interested in joining, please reach out to them.

If any of you know someone who would be interested in joining, please reach out to them. If there are two teams that want to make a trade that have both made their cuts and are in compliance, can we do that..? It would not affect dropped players or players on teams with MIA owners. (Hurl and CD) Thanks
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 So the DDL is on the verge of turning the league into a true dynasty: no more pre-season cut-downs. I've been wanting the DDL and BORED to do this for years. The rationale for doing it: - The cut down was designed to promote parity at a time when most of us weren't familiar with these kinds of leagues. It turns out that the cut down isn't necessary for redistributing talent. The LoD, for example, is a 30-team league with no cut down and has no problem with talent being concentrated among a few teams. - Our current cutdown rules are cumbersome and annoying (32 keepers of which 18-22 can be MLB players). Given that the waiver draft isn't necessary to accomplish parity or expedite rebuilds, I think this adds a needless layer of complexity to the league. - The waiver draft is a disaster. Outside of 2-3 high profile international signees, the draft is mostly flat, with <10 keeper worthy players typically selected inn a given year. - It reduces the administrative burden of tracking waiver draft picks on a spreadsheet. I'm proposing that we just eliminate what IMO is little more than a needless hassle. The changes would mirror those likely to pass in the DDL: - No more MLB cutdown deadline and no more waiver draft. You'd keep your 25 man MLB roster + 12-man farm + DL players forever. - There is no offseason inactivity. You can continue to add/drop players from the waiver wire year-round. - We'd have a single New Player Draft Sometime between January and March every year. The changes would take effect before the 2021 season. Our 2020 MiLB picks would be used in July for out last mid-season draft. Our 2021 picks would be used in January/February 2021 and every subsequent draft would take place then. I'm going to open up a poll. I've closed the poll on eliminating the cutdown beginning in 2021. Rough schedule of events in the near future: 1. 2020 cut down (our last time doing this) - February 29th 2. waiver draft - will begin as soon as I've determined that every time has compliant cut down rosters, likley the first few days of March 3. 2020 MiLB draft - same time as usual, after the signing deadline of the MLB draft 4. 2021 NPD new player draft - February 2021 So to recap, after 2021 we will have a single NPD every February and will never have to trim our rosters. We'll also have year-round access to the FA pool. I'm going to have to close the 2020 draft in Fantrax before the start of the season, so 2020 MiLB picks will disappear and have to be tracked on the spreadsheet until our July MiLB draft. This will be the last time we have to worry about manually tracking any picks. I'll wait until late March to process this, so that and trades made over the next 6-7 weeks can be processed in Fantrax as usual. Is there a place where I can find all the rule changes that were made this offseason with the switch to fantrax Thanks This is what I found, fwiw.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Needs to find the invite email from BTS and join Fantrax first Yeah, last time I spoke with spittin on FB aside from earlier today, he asked for it and BTS resent it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Needs to find the invite email from BTS and join Fantrax first He's been signed up, just needs to make cuts I believe, you're mixing up BBDL?

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Update: - spittin is back and will make his cuts - Beans has replaced Chubs, and will make his cuts after familiarizing himself with the team/league - We're looking for a replacement for L54, who's still AWOL. If he checks in before we find a suitable replacement, we'll welcome him back and proceed with the draft.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Is there a place where I can find all the rule changes that were made this offseason with the switch to fantrax Thanks It's actually not that much. Unless I'm forgetting something: 1. This year's cut down and waiver draft will be the last ones we do. 2. Following the 2020 MiLB midseason draft, we switch to an annual winter NPD , beginning in 2021, like we do in LoD. 3. Teams will be permitted to add/drop players through the offseason, like LoD. 4. We have unregulated promotion/demotion of players. Anyone with a green flag can be moved to your farm, unless they exceed the threshholds of 1000 PA and 50 (GS + half of relief appearances). 5. Free agent eligibility will be changed to only include players with MLB service time. Players making their debut will be eligible to be added at 8PM EST on the day following their first active day on the 25 man roster. If desired, an owner can request before the 8PM EST eligibility time that a commissioner place a debuting player on "debut waivers." A commissioner who places a player on debut waivers has to announce it in this thread. There is no general obligation to use debut waivers, which is an accommodation for owners who can't compete for an 8PM EST add, but there is an obligation for commissioners to respond to requests for debut waivers.
King Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 So are prospects at AA and above still eligible to be taken in the waiver draft
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 So are prospects at AA and above still eligible to be taken in the waiver draft Any prospect who has appeared in AAA is eligible for the waiver draft.

Is there a max on green flags? (I mean there should be)
Nafro Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I will manage L54's to keep from things being held up. If he comes out of the woodwork, I will not be heart broken to hand the team back.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Is there a max on green flags? (I mean there should be) Yes, of course. Our league will look like LoD, only as things stand now, we'll have a 12-man farm cap for everyone after the 2020 midseason MiLB draft. I do plan on starting a poll to see if people want to use the 2021 NPD to expand that buy a spot or two though.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 How about J2 guys? There will be a poll on that too. Both issues will be addressed as soon as the waiver draft is over, (as well as possible increase to 26-man rosters)

Nafro Verified Member Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 L54 is down to 21 MLB, and 11 MiLB. It looks like I don't pick until Waiver pick 19
