Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Ok, I am here and available to deal with this mess. All this went down at the worst possible time since I got really busy and could not really respond or consider options. I will be responding to messages now and I am open to ideas from the league..

Not in the league but you should probably walk away from the broken deal and sell those two dudes individually for more

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 So if this stuff passes we’d do the milb draft in July and then draft again in January?... that will be a pretty lame draft
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 So if this stuff passes we’d do the milb draft in July and then draft again in January?... that will be a pretty lame draft Yeah, the January draft would be shallow. Mostly international signees, and late season pop up guys. I don’t see this as a problem.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Can someone add Royce Lewis to my team. I tried adding him but it was going to count as a pick up 1st week of season
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Yeah, the January draft would be shallow. Mostly international signees, and late season pop up guys. I don’t see this as a problem. I don't see why there needs to be both. Just push it to January. It's basically the same pool of players.

I know I am the newbee. However, I am thinking from my experience so far in both my leagues that having two drafts might keep owners more engaged. Both my leagues there are owners that I have never spoke to as much as I have tried, for months, absenteeism holds up a lot of moves and takes some of the enjoyment out of the whole thing.. IMO part of the allure of Fantasy, is being the GM all year round and preparing for the season, not just putting guys in 3B, SP etc during the season..

That's true, but the league trade deadlines aren't that far removed from when the draft was, and if the MiLB draft is done just before the season, that will promote discussion there as well. What I don't like is that the leagues were all slightly unique (BORED in particular). If we convert them all to full keepers, we lose some of that.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 If it falls apart Carlos lmk.. I didn’t know you were shopping both in a package f*** the leach Carlos, this guy is the worst.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Carlos Danger and I have agreed to re work the trade. All pieces have been sent in Fantrax and accepted. Pleasure trading with you CD.

There would be two sets of draft orders though, for 2019 and 2020. Plus picks have been traded. I think we still need two drafts.

I think we still need two drafts. This was my main rationale. 2020 and 2021 picks exist, have been traded (though not many in the case of 2021 picks) and have to be used before the start of the 2021 season because of the way Fantrax works. I also think more owners would prefer the weak 2021 draft than to wait 18 months between drafts. I’m just really not bothered at all by the weak second draft. In the DDL thread TCA suggested expanding to 26-man rosters for 2021, and doing it via the NPD. I think that’s a good idea. Edited January 24, 2020 by BTS

Move the '21 draft back in BBDL bro, go hard in that paint.

I still think all leagues should move back this year, there's so many pro's to the move, plus fantrax runs the drafts, less work and more talent.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Super duper job coming to an agreement on that trade gang. I knew you'd resolve it. J4L19 and Carlos Danger are the biggest trading phenoms this forum has seen since North's heyday.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I’m not actually making a big deal of it but what’s the motivation in moving the milb draft? It’s kind of a kick in the balls to rebuilding teams so I’m just trying to grasp the positives
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I’m not actually making a big deal of it but what’s the motivation in moving the milb draft? It’s kind of a kick in the balls to rebuilding teams so I’m just trying to grasp the positives - waiver draft will no longer exist in the spring so there needs to be some system in place to distribute talent incoming through the offseason (mature international signings) - fantrax has issues with leaving a draft "incomplete" during the active season. If we are tracking picks in fantrax the draft needs to resolve before the seasons starts. Moving the MiLB draft to before the season and just calling it a comprehensive New Player Draft solves both things pretty simply. The 2021 New Player Draft will be weak but that's a one time inconvenience.

The 2021 New Player Draft will be weak but that's a one time inconvenience. And it's not like those rebuilding teams will be missing out on 2021 MLB draftees. They just have to wait half a year or so to draft them. This might actually help speed up some rebuilds. They'll get an extra shot of prospects into their system next winter instead of having to wait for Summer 2021. And I'm not sure it'll be as weak as we think it might be. 1 round worth of J2 players, 1 round worth of 26th roster guys, 2 rounds worth of midseason prospect breakouts and MLB 2020 draft prospects that were missed. All the picks are never used anyway. The draft will just be a lot flatter after the top few international guys are picked, but the talent will still be there to draft.

It’s definitely not a positive for a rebuilding team as one of the annual drafts will be very weak on talent. However, I get all the other things that go along with it so i voted yes for the changes. It’s like American politics where they present a bill but tuck some stupid thing in there as part of the package

And in exchange for this slight hold back on the talent you get an extra bonus prospect draft in the Spring of 2021.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 IMO that’s light for even just Bryant, and Flahery is a borderline ace
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Yeah separately CD was asking almost that for Bryant alone. So he sold JF off for scraps
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Re: Keepers and Ohtani Since Eze currently is in possession of my half-asset, do I get one less keeper than everyone else and need to keep a placeholder? BTS I also need you to stipulate whether we are allowed to roster someone else on the days when Ohtani is away with his co-parent, as this could get sticky if streamers are involved and no roster spot is open on the day a transfer needs to take place. Also, should probably just transfer him to me now, as he won’t be pitching probably for several months to begin the season.
