SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 TRM here and presumably waiting on speedy. #deathtocomanagers I didn't receive an email or PM and min wasn't available until 9:30
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 There are 3 teams with 2 elite closers each: Chapman & Britton Jansen & Robertson Rosenthal & Davis And then a bunch of teams with no closers at all. It will be interesting to see how this strategy plays out. A couple of elite closers can go a long way to dominating ratios week to week. There are lots of other relievers available who can help your ratios just as much.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I wish Betances were an elite closer so he could help my ratios
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Somebody actually took Billy Hamilton. I dont think you realize how bad of a hitter he is until you own him for a whole year
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I wish Betances were an elite closer so he could help my ratios Two Betances would help even more.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Somebody actually took Billy Hamilton. I dont think you realize how bad of a hitter he is until you own him for a whole year I dropped him to stream a shitbag in the DDL finals. Didn't really think twice about it either.
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Somebody actually took Billy Hamilton. I dont think you realize how bad of a hitter he is until you own him for a whole year The under .300 slugging percentage throws up red flags IMO
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 There are lots of other relievers available who can help your ratios just as much. I don't think you know what "just as much" means.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Somebody actually took Billy Hamilton. I dont think you realize how bad of a hitter he is until you own him for a whole year I didn't think he had a chance to go in the top 350. Personally, I wouldn't roster him at all. That 0.290 OBP and 0.330 SLG obliterates the rate stats.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The under .300 slugging percentage throws up red flags IMO He's definitely not a guy you can play every day until he shows significant improvement. He will destroy your ratios.

That 0.290 OBP and 0.330 SLG obliterates the rate stats. Even if he could just get his OBP up to like .320, he could be a really useful fantasy player.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Hamilton is about as good as Dee Gordon, lol
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Even if he could just get his OBP up to like .320, he could be a really useful fantasy player. 0.320 OBP and like 0.370 SLG and you could play him everyday and enjoy the 60 steals.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Hamilton is about as good as Dee Gordon, lol Not really. Dee puts up huge z scores in H, R, and SB, while helping/not hurting in OBP. He hurts your SLG, but that's about it. Given the scarcity of SB, Dee is a good asset.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 0.320 OBP and like 0.370 SLG and you could play him everyday and enjoy the 60 steals. If he could OBP .320, it's probably more like 80+ SB.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 If he could OBP .320, it's probably more like 80+ SB. True
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 True I remember reading a BP article before he came up saying he was going to "get the bat knocked out of his hands" against MLB pitching. Meanwhile, dynasty drafters were dreaming on 100 SB seasons and taking him as a Top 5 pick. BP FTW!
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Not really. Dee puts up huge z scores in H, R, and SB, while helping/not hurting in OBP. He hurts your SLG, but that's about it. Given the scarcity of SB, Dee is a good asset. That's true in the last couple of years, sure.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 That's true in the last couple of years, sure. Hey, I would love for the bottom to fall out on Dee. I've been waiting. I traded him in two dynasty leagues because I didn't believe the breakout was sustainable, and then it kept going for another year and a half. I traded him for f***ing Matt Garza. Fail.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I don't think you know what "just as much" means. I do but don't let me get in the way of your incredibly narrow viewpoint.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 My first Premier League, I got my trade partner to throw in Dee Gordon, because him getting Allen Craig for the low, low price of Anthony Rizzo seemed too imbalanced. Sadly, I actually believed that, at the time.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I do but don't let me get in the way of your incredibly narrow viewpoint. So there are a bunch of Andrew Millers still on your board just waiting to buoy your ratios? Lucky you. I see a few good but old closers and then a bunch of setup guys whose ratios aren't nearly as good as the elite closers I mentioned.

I think I'm just more pro-Hamilton in dynasty. They have the same offensive skill-set but Hamilton has even more extreme speed. Billy will be the more impactful fantasy guy in his physical prime. Dee's 2014 is probably real but 2015 was half mirage.

Need to grab a more bankable bat there, IMO.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I wouldn't touch either of them just for aesthetic reasons That's racist.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Or a starting pitcher, if you don't have one yet. Maybe It's going to be funny when frenchsoup's rotation of Wade Mileys ruins the rate stats his closers put up.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Or a starting pitcher, if you don't have one yet. Maybe Jesus... FS's ace is going to be like Clay Buchholz.
