Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 jays_fever is online and I'm ready to pick, standby spittin
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The last true ace, that is to say.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The last true ace, that is to say. Gray doesn't get the strikeouts I want from a true ace.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gmrnLvPPUwdpITeT9t7uwqrucdws2fN8uRRJv_sosGE/edit#gid=0 Thanks, I was actually looking for it too. Comes in handy at times.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Gray doesn't get the strikeouts I want from a true ace. Neither did Keuchel until suddenly he did.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Speedy and Min are both online, nice
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Neither did Keuchel until suddenly he did. And when that day comes he'll be a true, true ace. Both Gray and Blockmon were near the top of my list.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 And when that day comes he'll be a true, true ace. Both Gray and Blockmon were near the top of my list. Well he was in the Cy Young race for most of the year. Plus he's young, great GB rate, and he pitches in a great park (for now). At the very least he should be a high end SP2.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I can say this now, but he's preferable to Stroman due to contextual factors. I probably would have taken Stroman cuz I'm a homer tho.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Sonny Gray was a pretty bad pick lol. Guess you must believe in his ability to beat his FIP.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I would have taken Stroman all because of his feistiness
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I would have taken Stroman all because of his feistiness There are like 15 SPs remaining that I'd take over Gray. Don't have a reference right in front of me but that may even be an understatement.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Also, Gray doesn't look like a pitcher. He looks more like a second baseman. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/32082.png&w=350&h=254
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Sonny Gray was a pretty bad pick lol. Guess you must believe in his ability to beat his FIP. Why's that, exactly? A 3.36 FIP is an easy SP2. And yes, I do believe he can beat it as long as he pitches half his games in Oakland.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Who's picking for Gjew Dork?

Projected for an ERA around 3.70 K/BB under 3 Mediocre k numbers Likely mediocre win totals

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I think Stroman is much more preferable. Ridiculous GB numbers with one of the best infield defenses behind him in a park that makes grounders slow. Not to mention Stroman has a ton of upside we haven't seen in the K numbers.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I hate that potential trade hanging over all the Rockies OF.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Not to mention Stroman has a ton of upside we haven't seen in the K numbers. So does Gray, who has one of the best curveballs in baseball. He struck out batters at 25% in his first year over 60+ IP. There is more K% in there than what he's shown the last two years, which is still pretty good. Stroman doesn't have an out pitch as good as Gray's hammer, though I love them both and I think they're pretty similar pitchers.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I hate that potential trade hanging over all the Rockies OF. Yeah, I can't help but think Cargo and CoreDick both dropped a bit under the threat of that. Now it looks like the might just move CoreDick to 1B and keep them all, which makes sense.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 f*** your projection and the ******* you pulled it out of. He has a career 2.88 ERA over 500 innings. He's not at 500 innings yet. You also only addressed one of the issues I raised, but who cares because this is an ERA only league, amirite?
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 We select Brandon Belt, can someone pm next in line? I'm on the road right now
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 He's not at 500 innings yet. You also only addressed one of the issues I raised, but who cares because this is an ERA only league, amirite? Your other issues don't hold any water for me. He's had 14 wins each of the last two years on a mediocre team, doesn't seem to be a problem. His K and K/BB are both above average with room for growth and he's a great GB pitcher with two plus pitches.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Who has GD's pick? NJH/KingKat/GD?
